"Nakai?"
Nino asked Ohno and he nodded his head. Truthfully, he wasn't sure at first. He couldn't recognize the voice when Nakai suddenly appeared. He was too tired after his short battle with Kimura sensei. But, now, as he told everyone what happened when he was in Nino's mind, he was convinced that the mysterious guy was Nakai. The way he talked was similar to the guy he had seen in Naomi's memory. He didn't know much about Nakai. But, he knew he was a healer and he fled with Naomi's corpse after the battle.
"Did she really die in the battle?" He blurted out the question. Question that had been bothering his mind since he saw the way Nino freaked out when he thought he killed Naomi in the form of protection spell earlier. He eyed the book that Sho was holding, knowing that it was Founder Sakurai's diary.
"My ancestor said he accidentally killed her," said Nino in a low voice. He seemed uncertain.
"He killed her," said Sho confidently. "But, not the real her,"
Everyone looked at Sho with wide eyes. Ohno didn't know how he felt to hear that. Somehow, he had a feeling that what he thought was possible.
"Founder Ninomiya wrote the diary from his own point of view. He was a powerful magician but he wasn't as powerful as his sister. He and Samii cooperated to defeat Naomi. Samii tried to find her weakness. They decided to trap her in her own nightmare. It was the most powerful illusion ever made by Founder Ninomiya and they almost succeeded in defeating her,"
Sho took a moment to pause before he continued.
"However, she finally realized about the illusion and used it against them. At the end, it was Founder Ninomiya who was trapped in her illusion,"
"How do you know all of this?" Asked Nino.
"From this diary," Sho shoved the diary that he had been holding to Nino. "It is Founder Sakurai's diary,"
Nino took the diary from Sho and examined it.
"Our fathers actually know why the founders keep the existence of Naomi from history. They know what they are protecting Founder Ninomiya from," Sho said as Nino flipped the pages in the diary.
"So, this is what you have been reading in the infirmary earlier?" Asked Jun. Sho nodded his head.
"What's in it?" Asked Ohno eagerly. "What did he write about Naomi?"
"A lot. He seemed to have a suspicion about Naomi and Nakai since Nakai healed Samii's mother. But, he made a mistake. He didn't take action even though he suspected something was wrong with them. If only he expressed his concern to other people when he suspected them..."
"He freaked out," Nino suddenly said, surprising everyone else. Ohno turned his attention towards Nino, realizing that he wasn't listening to what Sho was saying. Instead, he was reading an entry in the diary. "He thought he killed her. But, it was actually... It was the same as me, Ohchan,"
Nino seemed to be calm. But, from his emotion that Ohno felt, he knew that Nino wasn't as calm as he appeared to be. Aiba and Jun looked lost to hear what Nino said while Sho's expression remained neutral. He didn't look perplexed as the other two as if he understood what Nino mean.
"He never know that he didn't really kill her. Samii never told him. But, the other founders know the truth," Nino continued.
"What are you talking about?" Jun asked impatiently.
"The protection spell that Naomi put in my head when I was unconscious..." Nino began explaining. "I'm the only one who can destroy it. In my case, the protection spell took form as Naomi. I destroy the spell by killing her. I freaked out because I thought I killed a real person. Founder Ninomiya also freaked out... Just like me,"
"Do you mean... The one that Founder Ninomiya killed was an illusion of Naomi and not the real one?" Said Jun, finally catching up.
Sho nodded before taking over the conversation.
"Founder Ninomiya and Samii didn't want to kill her. But there was a mistake causing her to be fatally wounded and almost dying. She noticed the illusion at the moment. Knowing that Founder Ninomiya wouldn't kill her, she took advantage of it and created an illusion that caused Founder Ninomiya to be devastated,"
"So, she fled with Nakai while she was still alive?" Aiba asked. Sho nodded his head.
"As Founder Ninomiya wrote in the diary, her forces were captured. They were shocked to see her wounded and angry to be left behind by Naomi and Nakai. It made them lose focus and that's how they were defeated,"
"What happened to Naomi and Nakai?" Ohno asked.
"Samii and Founder Matsumoto went after them. The search took days and they finally found Naomi's fortress in the woods. But, they only found Nakai with a few of their followers. Naomi was nowhere to be found. Nakai seemed distraught. They successfully captured him without him fighting back. He repeatedly saying Naomi's name. He said Naomi will be back. Founder Sakurai tried to heal him but nothing seemed to work. So, in the end, they decided that he had gone crazy. They didn't give up in finding Naomi but Founder Sakurai said that he couldn't even feel Naomi's soul anywhere in the forest where Nakai was found. Seeing that Nakai had become crazy, they concluded that he became crazy because he cannot save Naomi,"
"Founder Ninomiya didn't know anything about this?" Ohno asked, to which Sho responded with a shook before he continued.
"If you remember from his diary, he locked himself in his room. Some people were still worried that Naomi was still alive. They blamed Samii and Founder Ninomiya because they didn't kill her when they had the chance. They were not convinced that she was dead without seeing her corpse. This is what they're protecting Founder Ninomiya from. They don't want the people to blame Founder Ninomiya for failing to kill Naomi. They also didn't want Founder Ninomiya to know the truth, afraid that he will blame himself for failing his people. That's why they decided to alter the fact, to make them forget about Naomi and made Samii as the new villain defeated by Founder Ninomiya. The reason he left the school was to find Naomi, to make sure she was really gone. He wanted the founders to rebuild the school,"
"Why don't they just erase the villain?" Asked Aiba innocently.
"The after effect of the war was obvious. How would they explain the destruction? They needed the help of people to rebuild the world. That's why Samii volunteered to be the villain who destroyed the world and defeated by Founder Ninomiya,"
"How did they alter the memory?" He asked. But, before Sho could answer, a loud voice interrupted them.
"Little boys, you can take all your time to hide," said Nakai. His voice seemed to be like an echo. Ohno wondered if he knew where they were hiding. "While you hide yourselves, I will enjoy myself torturing your fathers and the headmaster,"
There was a gasp and when Ohno looked around, a worried expression was evident in his friends' face.
"I will give you one hour to decide. After 1 hour, I will start torturing them. Make a wise decision," continued Nakai. "Little Samii, I look forward to see you again,"
"We need to get out from here and rescue them," said Nino in panic. He stood up and tried to find the door that mysteriously vanished after they entered the room. "We only have one hour,"
Ohno, Jun and Aiba followed him, trying to find the door that he was looking for. Only Sho remained sitting.
"Sho, what are you doing? We need to be quick," said Nino angrily. "Let us out please,"
"Relax, guys. I know you want to save them but we cannot act without thinking. Let's think of a plan first,"
They looked at each other, knowing what Sho said was right. If they simply went to save Nino-papa, Sakurai-papa and Kitagawa sensei without a plan, things might get worse. Ohno stayed silent. He knew that Kimura sensei and Nakai wanted him, both for revenge. Nakai was after him because he is a descendant of the people who stopped him from conquering the world years ago. Kimura sensei wanted to kill him because of Nino.
"Let's make a deal with them," he told his friends. They looked at him with a worried expression. They knew what he's going to propose.
"No, you're not going to sacrifice yourself," said Nino sternly.
"But..."
"No, you stay here," said Nino again. "I should be the one to go. Ki... Naomi wants me,"
Ohno noticed the way Nino almost slipped at his words. He could see that Nino was still having a hard time believing Kimura sensei was Naomi. He didn't want to admit that his favourite teacher was the one who attacked them. It was easier for him to think of Kimura sensei and Naomi as different people.
"Both of them want me. So, I should go," Ohno said again. Nino looked at him with dissatisfaction and both of them kept arguing about who should go and meet Nakai and Kimura sensei.
"Stop it, you two!" Said Jun loudly, surprising both of them. "We need to think of a plan. Not who to sacrifice to the lord of the underworld,"
"But... It's the only way to..."
"No!" This time it was Aiba who protested. "We're going to do this together. No one has to sacrifice himself to save the others,"
"You know," Ohno began. "I could use my magic on you guys and make you do what I say. I could just walk out of here without any of you stopping me,"
"How could you walk out of here? Only Sho knows how to make the door appears again," said Nino.
"Simple. I just command him to..." Ohno stopped talking when he turned his attention towards Sho. Sho didn't pay attention to them, instead he appeared to be thinking before he gave them a smile.
"It's creepy when you suddenly smile like that," said Aiba. The others nodded in agreement.
"Well," said Sho. "If you want to see the lord of the underworld so much, why don't both of you see them together?"
