Challenge Accepted - Part 4

"Coffee or tea?"

Since Ohno had been generous to share his meal with him, Nino decided to be nice and offered to make a drink for the guy.

“Coffee would be nice,” answered Ohno. Nodding his head, Nino proceeded to make coffee for both of them. He had his back to Ohno as he prepared the drink. Once it was done, he turned back at Ohno and caught the man staring at him with a weird smile. The pasta on his plate was left uneaten.

“You’re creepy,” said Nino as he took a seat in front of Ohno. “Why are you staring at me like that? It’s creepy,”

“Because you’re cute,”

As soon as the words were out, Ohno immediately covered his mouth with his hands, blushing as if he didn’t intend to say it out loud. Nino was confused at first. However, seeing Ohno’s comical reaction, he couldn’t stop himself from laughing.

“You are weird, Ohno-san,” said Nino.

Ohno scratched his head and then mumbled. “I’m not lying. You’re cute,”

“Oh?” Nino raised his eyebrow. “I thought I was rude. Wasn’t that what you said about me this morning?”

The man shook his head. “I was flustered. I didn’t mean what I said this morning,”

“Really?” responded Nino, fully aware of how sarcastic he sounded.  “Okay, whatever. Let’s just eat, okay?”

It was a cue that he wanted to eat in silence. And, Ohno seemed to understand it. But, it didn’t stop him from staring at Nino. And, even though it made him uncomfortable, Nino didn’t say anything about it.

His day was pretty much dull after that. Their boss assigned a new task to Ohno. Focusing on his task, he barely spared a glance at Nino.

“See you tomorrow,” Ohno said as Nino switched off his computer, ready to go home. Nino just ignored him without saying anything to the man. Aiba looked at them with a weird smile but thank goodness, he kept his mouth shut. Nino didn’t need his friend to make unnecessary comments.

In fact, Aiba remained silent about the matter on their ride home. No, it didn’t mean he didn’t talk at all. He talked… nobody can stop that man from talking. He talked about his afternoon appointment, and how the client was so fussy. He talked about what he ate for lunch. Well, he talked about everything. He just… he didn’t talk about Ohno.

Not until they arrived home.

“So, things are going well between you and Ohchan?” said Aiba as he locked the door. “Have you asked him out on a date?”

Nino rolled his eyes. “Why would I ask him out?”

This time, it was Aiba’s turn to roll his eyes. “The deal! Don’t you remember what you promised me this morning? If the new staff is the man you dreamed…”

“He is not the man I dreamed about,” Nino cut him off. “I didn’t remember anything about the man in my dream so I just made it up,”

Aiba simply smirked at him. He didn’t look surprised by the revelation.

“Yappari, ne. I know you just made it up,”

Nino snorted, annoyed that Aiba knew his bluff. “So, the deal is off,”

“Who said?” Aiba’s grin grew wider. “You still have to ask him out. Besides, the two of you look good together,”

Nino rolled his eyes again. What a stupid idea! As he was about to scold Aiba, his phone chimed, letting him know there was a new message for him. He took it out from his pocket, hoping it wasn’t from the person he hated the most in the world.

Oh, it was from an unknown number.

Hi Nino!

Read the first message. The unknown was still typing. So, Nino waited to see what else would be written.

Hope you arrive home safely.

Anyway, I just want to know…

Hmm… do you have any food allergies?

Huh? Who was this person? Why was he interested to know about Nino’s allergy? Nino was about to ask about it when he received another message from the stranger.

Oh, I forgot to tell you.

It’s me… Ohchan.

I got your number from Aiba-chan.

Reading the last sentence, Nino immediately turned to look at Aiba, gifting his friend with the sharpest glare. Aiba seemed to understand his glare but he didn’t look scared. He just grinned at Nino.

“I’ll go and take a shower first,” exclaimed Aiba. “You should reply to his text,”

Nino stuck his tongue out. Nope, he would not reply.

A/N: I hope it's okay. Sorry if it's too short.
