Sho decided to take a walk around the neighborhood that day. He hasn’t been there for almost a month with all the stuff going on and he noticed that things were starting to change. He strolled from store to store aimlessly, reminiscing the sweet memories he had with Aiba. His final destination was at the park where he used to spend a lot of time with Aiba. He sat on the bench trying to remember the feeling. His heart ached, thinking that he was about to leave the place for good.

Looking around the park, Sho realized that the place meant so much to him. He and Aiba had different interests yet the park would somehow be the one place where both could tolerate each other differences. Despite anywhere they would go for their dates, the park would always be the last place for them to spend time together. Even after Aiba moved in with him, they would still spend a little time there. It was also the place where they shared their first kiss with each other.

“How’s the cat doing?” Sho asked as soon as they settled on the bench.

Aiba’s smile grew wider as he turned to face his lover. “She’s doing great,” he said excitedly. “I named her, Mi-chan.”

“Masaki,” Sho said as he placed his hands on Aiba’s shoulders to stop him from moving too much. He breathed out slowly before looking straight into the younger’s eyes, advancing closer to him. “Do you trust me?”

Aiba tilted his head in confusion before nodding slowly. He frowned looking at Sho who suddenly closed his eyes and closing the distance between their faces upon receiving his answer before smiling as he got the idea. His eyes fluttered closed as he moved closer to meet Sho in the middle.

The kiss was slow and passionate. Their lips moved slowly against each other as both trying to remember what the other were taste like. But before they could deepen the kiss, a drop of water fell on Aiba’s face causing him to withdraw. He giggled as he heard Sho let out a displease sound and pulled him to take cover from the rain. As soon as they reached the huge and only tree in the middle of the park, the rain fell hard.

Sho sighed as he looked at their forgotten things under the rain. Aiba cupped his face and planted a kiss on his lips, signaling him to continue where they left. He smiled as he grasped the younger’s hands and gripped them tight before catching his lips, getting lost in their own world.

Sho closed his eyes and smiled sadly to the memory playing in his head. He lowered his head trying to let the memory disappear on its own. Too occupied with his thoughts, he was oblivious to someone approaching him.

“Sho-chan.”

It was that voice; the voice that had been playing inside his head. It sounded so real, as if the owner of the voice was standing right in front of him.

“Sho-chan, look at me.”

Sho lifted his head and stared straight to the person standing in front of him. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing; the face that always appeared whenever he closed his eyes; the face that haunted him in his dreams; the face that he couldn’t forget even though he wanted to. The face of the man he missed so much was standing in front of him, smiling.

He closed his eyes once again, praying that it wasn’t just one of his imaginations; that he will still be there when he opened his eyes. He opened his eyes slowly yet determinedly and stood up as he realized that the person in front of him was real. His mind involuntarily flew back in time when he was in New York searching for Aiba.

He looked at the number on the paper in his hand to compare it with the building in front of him before stepping forward to press the bell. He had called earlier to confirm the address and talked to one of the Japanese students living there. The main door opened and he climbed the stairs to second floor where Aiba’s room was. He inhaled deeply before knocking on the door.

“Nino?” Sho asked a boy standing in front of him.

“Ninomiya for you,” the boy said, looking warily at him.

“Sorry. Ninomiya-san, I’m-”

“I know who you are,” Nino said with a smirk. “Sho-chan.”

“Masaki told you… about us?”

“Pretty much,” Nino said without even bother to invite Sho to come into the room. “We talk about everything, so yours wasn’t an exception.”

“Can I see him?” Sho asked. He wasn’t comfortable hearing about Aiba from a stranger. Let alone a very mischievous-looking one.

“Actually, can you not?” Looking at Sho’s shock expression, Nino smirked and leaned against the doorframe. “He’s getting better since he first came and I don’t want him to be that old Aiba again.”

“But I-” Sho’s words was cut when they heard Aiba’s voice from the inside.

“Nino-chan, who’s there?”

“Just some guy,” Nino responded without tearing his eyes away from Sho. “Stay there; I’ll take care of it.”

“OK,” they heard Aiba replied cheerfully.

“See, he’s fine now without you in his life,” Nino said as he folded his arms in front of his chest. “And if you really love him, you’ll leave him alone,” he continued.

“I see,” Sho said inaudibly. “I’m glad that he’s doing fine. Thank you,” he said as he tried to smile but knew he failed. “Sorry for taking your time.”

“Yeah, same here,” Nino responded nonchalantly before closing the door.

Sho managed to hear Aiba’s cheerful voice talking to Nino for one last time before turning away to leave. It took all his strength to keep himself from barging into the room.

The memories vanished as he felt Aiba’s hand on his. He instinctively pulled his hand away and tried not to mind Aiba’s hurt expression. “What are you doing here?”

“You’ve quit the company,” Aiba said ignoring Sho’s question. “Is it because of me?” he stared right into Sho’s eyes despite the other man trying to avoid his. “And when I went to your house, your landlady said you’ve moved away,” he continued.

“How’d you find me here?” Sho asked again with a different question.

“I didn’t know that you’d be here. I’m clueless to where to start searching for you,” Aiba said with a sad tone. “I came here to think before I saw you.”

“Why-?”

“Would you stop with the questions already?!” Aiba suddenly burst causing Sho to look at him with surprise. The rain had started falling around them. Both were too absorbed in the argument that they didn’t realize or simply paid no attention to it.

“I-” Sho tried to say something but realizing that he had nothing to say, he decided to keep silent.

Looking at Sho’s uncertainty, Aiba continued. “Nino-,” he stopped for a while when he saw Sho flinched to the name before continuing. “Nino told me about you coming to New York to find me. He’s sorry for chasing you away.”

“Maybe it’s for the best.”

“NO! Stop saying that shit,” Aiba cried out. “We know that it’s not true.”

“Ma-”

“When I thought that I can finally get over you, you-,” Aiba tried hard not to brake down, despite the tears flowing down his cheeks. He looked down to his feet before slowly continuing. “You suddenly appear.”

They were now standing in the middle of heavy rain, soaking them both. They remained on their feet for what seemed to be forever before Sho decided to give up. He sighed as he grabbed Aiba’s hand and pulled him under the huge tree in the middle of the park.

Sho watched as Aiba began to shiver. He hesitantly reached out to touch him but surprised when the other suddenly threw himself into his embrace. Then he heard the thunder. He still remembered that one thing that Aiba was afraid of was the thunder.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t-” Aiba said as he pulled away from Sho.

“Masaki,” Sho said gently as he reached out to remove the hair plastered on Aiba’s face. “Why is it so hard for me to forget you?”

Aiba looked into Sho’s eyes to understand what the older man was talking about but failed. “I… don’t understand.”

“I’ve tried everything but you just keep refusing to leave my mind.”

“Wha-” Aiba tried to ask but Sho was fast on catching his lips. The kiss lasted only for a few second but enough to him. He looked down to hide his blushing face as soon as they broke the kiss.

“I’m happy that you decided to find me, Masaki,” Sho whispered.

Aiba sniffed and hid his face in the crook of Sho’s neck. “I’m sorry, Sho-chan,” Aiba mumbled.

“No, Masaki, I’m sorry,” Sho said as he grabbed Aiba’s shoulders hard and pulled away to look at his face. “I won’t ever let you go, no matter what happen; no matter who beg me to. Not even, you,” he said determinedly as he looked up to the clear sky.
