Chapter 20
"Follow us, my Prince... we’ll explain everything to you..." one of the vampires said as he reached for the candlestick which he previously placed on the table nearby before started walking. The three signaled Sho to follow the first vampire, knowing that Toma and Kame would follow suit. And as they predicted, the two followed right behind as their prince started moving.
Sho found himself being led to the center of the castle along with Toma and Kame. His eyes traveled along the corridor they walked through. It was a dim lighted tunnel with candles hanging on the wall as its main source of light. “Don’t you use electricity in this place?”
“Electricity was invented by weak humans in order to survive the night. We are fine without it in here, my prince…” the last on the line answered.
“Can I ask you something? It’s been bothering me for sometimes now…” Sho said suddenly as they continued their journey.
“Of course, my prince…”
“Why prince?” Sho asked looking at Toma and Kame who were frowning in disbelieve. “It’s not like I’m complaining or anything…” he continued ignoring both “… I mean, Lord or King would be great, not that I want to be called one. But why prince?”
“Because the King is still alive…” the one leading the group answered without turning on his back “… and he’s been here for almost 100 years waiting for you to arrive…”
“Wow… he really waited that long huh… what if your Prince doesn’t show up?” Kame cut in earning a nudge from Toma.
“He will since it’s written in the Book. A war is coming and he must lead us to victory…”
“War!?” Sho frowned.
“Yes… the war…” the vampire answered. He was now turning to face the prince and his friends. “We’re here…” he said as he stepped aside allowing one of them to open the door before stepping inside, himself.

“Ohno-san…” Aiba called as he sensed they’re buried deep into the darkness. “Are you sure this is the way?”
The two had been asking a lot of people from nearby village before finding themselves wondering in the woods. Some had provided Ohno with information that the hunters were active in the woods these past few days.
“Yes, according to that old man, this is where he saw a teenage boy being dragged by four men in white protective suit into a van…”
“But, how can you be so sure it’s-”
“No buts, Aiba…” Ohno cut him. “I know it’s him… now less talking more looking…”
“What’ll you do if we can’t find him?” Aiba asked as he squatted down to fixed his bag pack. “What if he’d already-” he stopped and looked up to Ohno as he felt his gaze on him.
“Don’t you dare say that!” Ohno said glaring at Aiba. “I won’t accept that even if it’s coming from you!”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I was just-” Ohno clasped Aiba’s mouth before he could finish his sentence. “What?” Aiba whispered as soon as Ohno let go of him slowly.
“shh, listen…” Ohno closed his eyes to listen to the sound before opening it and turning to the opposite direction. “There!” he said before started running towards the direction.
“Ohno-san, wait…” Aiba called as he ran after Ohno dragging his bag.

Sho, Toma and Kame entered the chamber followed by two of the four vampires while the other two stood outside. As soon as they entered the room, Sho found himself staring at a statue standing proudly in the middle of the room with a stand next to it.
“Wow, it’s really you…” Toma said as they approached the statue to take a good look of it. “Nice work of art…”
“Well, the real one is not as handsome as this statue I must say…” Kame continued.
“Oi…” Sho glare at Kame’s words before looking to his left. “Is this the Book you’re talking about?”
Their attention diverted to the stand upon hearing Sho. There was an open book on top of it and the only light that was lighting the room was coming from above the book shining down on it. Sho approached the book as he being signaled to do so by one of the vampires.
“Please… read it…” the vampire said. Sho placed his hand in the book as a mark before closing the book to see its front. Obviously the only word on the cover was PROFEZIA means prophecy and only in hand-written. He wondered how many years had past since they first write in this book as he studied its poor condition before getting back to the previous page.
"Il principe sarà nato tra noi… egli sarà il prescelto one… Colui che decideranno il futuro della nostra race… se sarà la vittoria o destruction…" Sho read out loud. That’s it? Only a few sentence to tell that I’m the prince? he thought before looking to Toma and Kame who seemed oblivious to its meaning before looking back down to the book again. “It means-”
“The prince will be born among us… he will be the chosen one… The one who will decide the future of our race… whether it’ll be victory or destruction…” a voice continued cutting Sho’s sentence, causing him to turn to it. The voice was coming from a man in a black hood that appeared next to him.
The two vampires who were standing in front if him bowed to the arrival of the mysterious man, pulling down Toma and Kame with them. Sho was oblivious to what he should do before stepping down from the stage. “We finally meet, my prince…” the man said without removing his hood.
“Are you the King?” Sho asked, ignoring the fact that it sounded rude. As far as he knew, the man himself didn’t have good manner joining in the conversation just like that.
“I’m afraid not…” despite having four men bowing upon him, the newcomer bowed down to Sho. “I’m his highness’ counselor…”
“Counselor?” Kame cut in before being pulled down again by the vampire next to him.
“No one speak before the counselor, Master Jin and king himself…” he whispered so that only Kame heard him.
“As I was saying, I’m his highness’ counselor, Akanishi Jin…” the man continued as he looked to Kame who was now looking guilty “… and I’m here to make sure you’re ready to fulfill your destiny as our prince…”
“Wa- wait a minute…” Sho withdrew instinctively “… don’t I have a say on this? Not that I have something against it but don’t you guys think you should ask me first on this? And war to go with that…” Sho ran his fingers through his hair thinking. “I don’t think-”
“You were destined for this and fulfill it you must…” Master Jin said determinedly.

“It’s them…” Ohno said. He and Aiba were squatted down behind the bushes looking at the two men dragging a girl who they assumed was a vampire according to her strength into a van. “I bet they’re the one who took Nino away…” he said and when he was about to go out, Aiba pulled him down.
“Ohno-san, you can’t just go out and attack them…” Aiba said as he pinned Ohno on the grass. “What if there are more of them nearby? We’ll lose our chance to save Nino and Jun…”
“I don’t care!” Ohno exclaimed. He struggled to free himself from Aiba but stop as he heard someone stepping closer to them. He stopped struggling and pulled Aiba’s body close before rolling deep into the bushes together with Aiba in his arms. Both stayed as still as they could as the foot steps becoming clearer.
“I swear I heard voices here…” they heard a man.
“Maybe it’s a rabbit…” another man said.
“Rabbit don’t talk…” the first man argued.
“Mine does…” the other argued back before both laughed. “Come on, no one is looking after that girl, she might try to escape…”
Aiba and Ohno looked at each other in understanding before barging out of the bushes and attacked both men who were not ready. They succeeded in making both men unconscious within a minute. They stripped both men from their protective suit before tying them to a tree.
“Hurry up, before they wake up…” Ohno said as he ran to the van and climbed in. He was freak out yet relived to see the advance technology being installed in the van. The van was equipped with the tracking system and auto-pilot. They just have to turn the key to make it work. He turned the key to start the engine.
Aiba pulled the zipper up to his neck before running after him. Instead of climbing in at the passenger’s seat, he went to Ohno’s side and knocked the window. “What about the girl?” he asked as Ohno lowered the window.
“We need her to get in…” Ohno said without looking at Aiba as he tried to get the engine started. “Get in the back and try to talk to her or something…”
Aiba nodded before running to the back and opened the back door. The girl they saw just now was tied and locked in a cage inside and was glaring at him showing her teeth. He realized that it was silver as he touched it. “Don’t worry, we’re not with them…” he said to the vampire girl.
“All humans are the same!!” the girl shouted. “Let me out of here before I kill you!!”
Aiba was about to answer when Ohno shouted from the front seat. “Aiba get inside now!!”
As soon as he heard the door shut behind him, Ohno pressed the head-quarter button and the van started moving. He held the steering wheel tightly in case the auto-pilot failed. Damn whoever invented this shit, he thought as he studied the buttons and panels installed inside. They were really going all out to track vampires all over the country and maybe the world.

“Jun, are you ok?” Nino touched Jun’s cheek as soon as he opened his eyes.
“I think so…” Jun said as he tried to sit up but groaned before lying back down. “My stomach hurt…”
“As expected when you drink the strong acid all by yourself…”
“Jun-nii, thank you…” Takumi said as he went to Jun’s side. He smiled as the boy leaned down and hugged him.
“That’s a great thing you did…” Nino said as he looked at the view in front of him. “Crazy but great… all thanks to you I also don’t have to drink that stuff…”
“What about the holy water?” Jun asked as he remembered the holy water from before. He had volunteered to drink all the acid available in order to avoid Nino and Takumi from having to do it but forget about the holy water. He was nearly unconscious when he heard the scientists talking about the holy water.
“Nothing we can’t handle, right Takumi?” Nino said as he tried to hide his burning hand behind his back.
“Yes…” Takumi said as he looked sadly at Nino.
“Don’t lie…” Jun said weakly as he looked at Nino. “I can see your burning marks clearly from over here…” he shifted a little to make Takumi comfortable against him.
“At least they didn’t force us to drink it…” Nino smiled. “I have to do something to for the boy too, you know…” he continued, earning a smile from Jun.
---
“I’m going to save you if you cooperate with us ok?” Aiba said as the van moved swiftly towards the head-quarter. He knew that they had to hand over the girl as soon as they arrived there.
“Why should I believe you!?” the girl frowned.
“Coz I know how you feel…” Aiba said and when the girl didn’t show any sign of responding he continued. “I heard you shouting to those men… Takumi, is he your brother?”
“What’s that have to do with you?”
“Our friends are locked inside too…”
“I maybe look like a kid but I’m not stupid…” the girl looked at Aiba fiercely showing her teeth. If wasn’t Aiba had deal with two most frightening vampires before, Aiba might’ve find that the girl frightening. He smiled before reaching into his pocket for the key to unlock the silver cage.
“I know…” Aiba said as he opened the door of the cage widely. He stepped inside but withdrew a little as the girl showed her fierce face again. “You maybe older than me too… but I’m not lying…” he looked outside as he felt the van stopping. “Ready or not, we’re here… now you’ll just have to trust me…” he moved closer to the girl and untied her. The girl looked intently at him as if thinking whether to trust him or not. “Please?”
---
Ohno looked at the huge wall in front of him and frowned. Where the hell is the HQ? he thought as he peeked outside the van. The van stopped in front of a very large brick wall behind a large building. Ohno had his hand on the door when he heard a small sound coming from the brick wall. The brick suddenly went up revealing a pathway inside before the van started moving again. “Aiba, we’re here…” Ohno said as he turned to see what was going on at the back.
Aiba had the girl’s hand in his and was smiling winningly at him. “Meet, Kina…” Ohno nodded his head to Aiba as a signal for them to step outside. Aiba had the girl’s hand tied so that no one will be suspicious of them. They stopped in front of what seemed like a main gate before hearing a voice.
“Male or female?”
The three looked around to find the origin before realizing that the sound came from a small speaker at the top corner of the gate together with a camera. “She’s a female and 10 ye-”
“23…” the voice said without waiting for Aiba to finish. Aiba turned to Ohno and raised his eyebrows. “What’s that suppose to mean?” he whispered so that the man talking to him through the speaker didn’t hear him.
“I think its ‘cell no. 23’ or something like that…” Ohno whispered.
“Th- thanks…” Aiba said looking directly to the camera before dragging Kina inside as the gate open. Ohno followed behind with eyes traveling around the place. As they went through the main gate, a long black limousine went out. The window at the back seat was opened showing the person sitting inside. He looks really familiar, Aiba thought as his eyes met the man.
“You know him?” Ohno asked upon seeing Aiba looking intently to the old man in the limo that just went past them.
“No idea…” Aiba answered simply.
