Live Report : Linkin Park road trip New Jersey, Paris, Germany
Hey flist,
I'm just back from Rock am Ring fest and I'm back at work. I'm damn tired but I'm bloody happy. That was the best Rock Am Ring ever, not about the line up but about the amazing time I had with my peeps really. I just realized that I didn't even post something about how this gig craziness began.
May 6th, 2007 - Bamboozle Fest, NJ - USA
We took advantage of our trip to New York with the roomy to go to Bamboozle fest to see Linkin Park back on stage. I was missing them so much and I was curious about the new sound too. We subscribed to Meet's & Greets with the band with the roomy. We were so sure for not being picked up. I mean we were coming from France, and New York/New Jersey area is crowd by LP fan. Anyways, we were pretty surprised when we received an email to let us know we gonna be a part of the Meet's & Greets.
We were really surprise to see how everything is planned for the bus and so on from new york to the fest. We won't never see that kind of thing in Europe really. We just hang out until the MG with my roomy, listening some music and chill. Wanted to grab a beer .. and DAMN WHO WANT TO BUY A BUD LIGHT FOR 7 $ !!! That's definitely ridiculous..
Anyways..
We grabbed our MG pass and just made the line for it. We didn't have anything to get singed so we just find some poster and stickers at the fest.
That was funny to see my roomy at a MG as he's not speaking English at all and plus he's not especially that much fan of the guys.. anyways.
We waited until 6 pm to get the pass and then 7pm to have them. That was funny coz a STer was in charge to give those passes and when she saw my passport, she just looked at me and remembered me from Projekt Revolution in 2004. She was on the line with me in Boston.. The world is pretty small that's funny.
We saw tons of people with LPU shirts, we were like rebels with the roomies with his tee shirt Runyc and my Hybrid Theory EP shirt... I was kind of Old school fan. That made me smile. While we 're waiting we got a sunburn.. and then we were freezing when we're ready for the MG.. damn wind !!
Mark arrived and recorded the line, and the guys followed. Fans just started to applause them. The line wasn't moving and I was freezing my ass. Joe started to give the finger to Mark the guys were like this : Joe - Phi - Chaz - Brad - Mike and Rob.
It was our turn, I gave my poster to get signed. Joe signed it and then Phi, and both of them just shaked my hands. When Phi did it, He just stop laughing and chatting with Joe and started to be worried a bit for me :
"Phi : Geez she's freezing
Joe : (to phi) Seriously ? (to me) Put your sweater.
Phi : Yeah Put your sweater
Me : Yeah mum.. when the line will be over"
They just start to laugh hard.. I couldn't stop the line to put my sweater on. And then look at my roomy who was shaking ..
"Chaz : C'mon are you dumb ? She wanted to show us she's an hardcore fan with her tee shirt.
Me : Hi chaz
Phi : Damn girl give your sweater to him at least
(look over my roomy, then phi, then Chaz, then phi once again)
Me : you want him to broke my sweater or what ? (my roomy is king out of shape)"
Chaz signed my poster I took a picture, and then he just look at went on
"Chaz : So any new ink plane this year ?
Me : Yeah next month with Chris, I'll do my calf
Chaz : That's cool, see you there"
I've met Chester last year at Club Tattoo anniversary party. I was really surprised to see he was remembering me seriously. I moved in front of Brad who was smiling and kind.. that's kind of miracle really. Brad and Joe are kind of versatile during MG. Mike and Rob were at the end of the line. Mike just raised his head and see me. He smiled at me :
"Mike : Oh you're there (shake my hand)
Me : French Fan's are waiting for you. 4 years since the last show it's been awhile and they're needing their LP fix
Rob : Oh you're coming from France ?
Mike : Yeah she is. I met her few times already.
Rob : We were in France for some interview
Me : I know.
Rob : So you're really looking for the new album ?
Me : I've already listen to.
Mike : Oh...
Rob : And..
Me (looking Mike Straight in the eyes) : And 4 years of waiting for that.. hum.. that leaving me perplex"
Me : I'm just hoping that you'll never change, but nothing is less sure..
Rob (shaking my hand) : thank you for coming really.
Mike (shaking my hand) : thanks for that.. that mean a lot for us."
Mike and Rob were a bit sad but I'm always honest and I won't change. We left and I've putted my sweater on coz I was freezing.
We went to the pit for the gig. I was worried after I've listened the leaked of the album. I was curious and worried. The gig was good, the American people were not really responsive though. I was missing the guys on stage and definitely they were missing being on stage too. They played "What I've done", "Given up" and "No More Sorrow" as new song. And definitely this gig leave me perplex a bit more as I could definitely not stand What I've done.. but performed live.. that's kind of acceptable.

May 30th 2007 - Bercy, Paris - FRANCE
I've missed them in 2003, so I couldn't definitely miss them this time. It was the good excuse to meet some of the LPFer I know since awhile. LPF is the board I'm working at as Admin since awhile now. It was good to see some of them again and to finally meet Simon and Baptiste I'm chatting with since years now.
We arrived in Paris on Monday with Matt. We wanted to spend some quality time together, some romantic time. We were missing each other coz between my New York trip and his moving we didn't find the time to see each other. We had a good time, the most amazing time together. I'm just so in love with him.
He wanted to see my "teen" and crazy "Linkin Park side".. and poor him he saw this side. I think the funniest part of this were when I started to joke about the fact that the guys could maybe stay at the same hotel as us and when I saw Chester smocking a cig on the balcony of his room the morning of the show .. I was like OMG it's real.. and start to laugh uncontrolled.
Let's focus on the Meet's and Greets. I want to say a big thank you to Bercy and LPU for the big mess around those MG once again. Seems like an habit for French MG though. I really think they have to work on that for next touring. After hours of waiting finally we got our passes. Bene, Marlou, Tiffaine, Niva, Bap, Lolo from Netherlands and a girl form Norway were on our lil group. Everyone was joking and so on but that was so clear.. everyone was so Anxious to meet the guys. It was the first time of everyone except for Bap and I.
We got on the line and the security guy of Bercy told us the bad news. They were late so .. One picture, one signing by member and no speech. I was like Yeahhh Right keep on that asshole. THEY WERE LATE COZ OF THEIR LAKE OF ORGANISATION SO FUCK OFF. Why the LPUer would be the one to pay for that mess huh ?
After some time, the line moved. I've chosen to get my Projekt Revolution Book to get signed. They let 5 people by 5 people to meet the guys. Bap, Bene, Marlou, Tifaine, and I. Rob, Phi, Brad, Chester, Mike and Joe were in front of us.
Rob signed my book. I asked him to sign it in Silver instead of Black, he signed twice. Phi signed on the bad spot of the book so start to draw some arrow to the new signing. He was laughing.
"Phi : I remember you.. I'm glad you're warmer than the last time we met.
Me : Not difficult to be warmer. I was freezing in New Jersey."
I took a pics and I moved to Brad who almost signed in black if Phi wouldn't tell him to not do that. Brad start to customize my book by drawing on Phi's arrow. Brad's making his mess.. Yeah now my book is definitely original. Next was Chester. I said Hi, and took a pic. He laughed when he saw my tee shirt of Rock Underground New York City "Punk is dead.. next is you". I was in front of Mike who definitely remembered me coz he was not smiling as usual. You know the famous Shinoda's smile. I gave him the Guestbook I've made for them with post of fan all around the world. Mike was happy to receive it and just Shake my hand. Chester was curious and excited to received something like that grab my second hand to shake it.. Hum so kinda hard to take a pic of Mike at this moment.

And the security guy asked me to move..
I'm really glad that my peeps got their MG moment. I'm kinda happy coz as it was not my first meeting I'm not impressed anymore and I can't talk a bit with them at least when the security guy is not wanting us to move faster. Niva, Bene, Tifaine and I joined Matt in the venue. He got some good seat for us. My man is the best man ever .. *grin and sigh*.
The set was cool above the same as Bamboozle with 3 more songs of Minutes To Midnight. The crowd were crazy. Linkin Park this day got a new member, the whole crowd of Bercy. The guys take pleasure to be on stage, they were smiling and joking.. The bad side of the gig is the guitar bad note of Brad, the forgotten lyrics of Mike and when Rob loose the rhythm during a song. I mean.. GEEZ those man are professional and they're still making those kind of mistake.. That's RIDICULOUS !!!
We drove back from Paris to Hettange Grande with Matt right after the gig coz we were leaving for Rock Am Ring right the day after early in the morning.

June 01st 2007 - Rock Am Ring, Nurburg - GERMANY
We arrived from Paris around 3.30 am and left the house around 7.30 am. We were freaking tired with Matt but we're some warriors. We arrived there around 10.30 am. All the camp filed were full. That was crazy. Usually on Thursday morning you can still have good spot. We were so freaking far away the fest but we got at least sanitary on our camp.. SHOWERS AND TOILETS.. the best things to have in a camp for RaR fest. Anyways, Mel (my German peeps), Matt and I made the tent in 30 minutes chrono. After that.. it was nap time. It was raining, the camp field was the mud paradise... As usual for Rock Am ring. Tiny my Belgian peeps joined us around 3 pm. It was the first time I met her. She's from LPF too even if she's not at all a LP fan now. She's just awesome. We had a really good time all together the first night, drinking celebrating our upcoming week end. I still didn't got any email confirmation for the MG on Friday morning. Yann (the roomy) called me around 12.30 pm to tell me I received it. I way beyond excited and kinda anxious coz I wasn't really kind with the guys with my post on the guestbook.
Anyways, the roomy arrived around 6.30 pm to give me the email and he got some problem to find a place for the car. I wanna say THANK YOU FOR GERMAN ORGANIZATION. It's clear and professional. I had to ask only once for MG information. I 've found the spot to get my pass. At this time, I gave my driving license and the girl was.. "Oh there's a Yannick Galbourdin (the roomy) on the list and not your name" I was like Hellooo look on the second sheet. She did it and I was the last one. I just called quickly the roomy coz he was not aware about the MG. He didn't received any email. Anyways he made it on time. We waited 2 fucking hours with this lovely German wind...
Let's focus to the MG. I decided to get signed some picture I've made during a gig. I've started to talk with a women on the line. I was relieved to know that she was sharing my point of view on the new album. The line started to move, and Rob - Phi - Joe - Chester - Brad and Mike were ready.
"Rob : Hello ... again. How was the journey between Paris and there ?
Me (smiling) : Good, thanks for asking.
Rob (smiling) : You won't have two signing this time"
He signed the picture and blink and I moved to Phi.
"Phi : Hello Miss gig..
Me (laughing) : Hi Phi.
Phi (looking the pic) : nice shoot, did you take it ?
Me (blushing) : Yeah, I did during projekt Revolution in Boston back in 2004.
Phi : You crossed the ocean ? how cool is that."
I moved to Joe
"Phi : Pretty cool gift you gave us in Paris though
Me : (smiling to phi) Hi Joe, yeah I was-
Joe : Yeah I recognize you. Hey, yeah a pic of me for once.
Me (smiling) : Yeah...
Joe : A pretty good one , thanks.
Me : Thank you Joe"
At this moment Chaz just raised his head and saw my tee shirt and start to scream so loud..
"Chester : CLUBBBBBBBB TATTOOOOOOOOOOOOO... YEAHHHHHHHHH THAT'S MY GIRL
Me (blushing as a teen) : hi Chester.
Chester (laughing) : cool pic of me .. It's during It's going down.. Yeah
Me (blushing more) : Yeah.. I'm missing the old song on stage as It's going down."
Chester blinked to me and I moved to Brad.
"Brad : Is that for me or you want me to sign it ?
Mike : What the hell ? Why people will give you picture of you Brad (and then laughed)
Me (smiling) : Please sign it Brad, Thanks."
He signed and I moved in front Mike. When he looked at me, he frowned first. Definitely he started to read the guestbook. He signed the pic after a moment of watching it. I thought it was the good moment of talking about the Paris Gig.
"Me : Mike..
Mike : uhu ?
Me : I just wanted to say thank you from all the French fan's for the gig in Paris. It was an amazing show. Really.
Mike (giving me the Shinoda’s smile) : thanks you.. our pleasure"
The roomy took pictures of the MG. I hope it's gonna be good pictures. We left the hotel and 2 minutes after us.. maybe less the guys left the hotel too to go to give the gig. I got my camera, my eyes crossed those of Chester who was with his wife. I smiled and put my camera back on my backpack. He just nod and smile and left with his wife. Joe and his wife, and Mike with his left right after Chester.
It was a private moment and I really don't wanted to disturb them at all.. *grins* Anyways, the gigs was weird. It was definitely not the best gig ever. Don't get me wrong I like them on stage but damn too many Lyrics problem between Mike who's messing with two chorus and Chester who's forgetting some of his, Brad with some bad note once again.. and the crowd wasn't as amazing as during Bercy. They were cold and weird. *sighs*

I just called quickly the roomy coz he was not aware about the MG. He didn't received any email. Anyways he made it on time. We waited 2 fucking hours with this lovely German wind...
Let's focus to the MG. I decided to get signed some picture I've made during a gig. I've started to talk with a women on the line. I was relieved to know that she was sharing my point of view on the new album. The line started to move, and Rob - Phi - Joe - Chester - Brad and Mike were ready.
"Rob : Hello ... again. How was the journey between Paris and there ?
Me (smiling) : Good, thanks for asking.
Rob (smiling) : You won't have two signing this time"
He signed the picture and blink and I moved to Phi.
"Phi : Hello Miss gig..
Me (laughing) : Hi Phi.
Phi (looking the pic) : nice shoot, did you take it ?
Me (blushing) : Yeah, I did during projekt Revolution in Boston back in 2004.
Phi : You crossed the ocean ? how cool is that."
I moved to Joe
"Phi : Pretty cool gift you gave us in Paris though
Me : (smiling to phi) Hi Joe, yeah I was-
Joe : Yeah I recognize you. Hey, yeah a pic of me for once.
Me (smiling) : Yeah...
Joe : A pretty good one , thanks.
Me : Thank you Joe"
At this moment Chaz just raised his head and saw my tee shirt and start to scream so loud..
"Chester : CLUBBBBBBBB TATTOOOOOOOOOOOOO... YEAHHHHHHHHH THAT'S MY GIRL
Me (blushing as a teen) : hi Chester.
Chester (laughing) : cool pic of me .. It's during It's going down.. Yeah
Me (blushing more) : Yeah.. I'm missing the old song on stage as It's going down."
Chester blinked to me and I moved to Brad.
"Brad : Is that for me or you want me to sign it ?
Mike : What the hell ? Why people will give you picture of you Brad (and then laughed)
Me (smiling) : Please sign it Brad, Thanks."
He signed and I moved in front Mike. When he looked at me, he frowned first. Definitely he started to read the guestbook. He signed the pic after a moment of watching it. I thought it was the good moment of talking about the Paris Gig.
"Me : Mike..
Mike : uhu ?
Me : I just wanted to say thank you from all the French fan's for the gig in Paris. It was an amazing show. Really.
Mike (giving me the Shinoda’s smile) : thanks you.. our pleasure"
The roomy took pictures of the MG. I hope it's gonna be good pictures. We left the hotel and 2 minutes after us.. maybe less the guys left the hotel too to go to give the gig. I got my camera, my eyes crossed those of Chester who was with his wife. I smiled and put my camera back on my backpack. He just nod and smile and left with his wife. Joe and his wife, and Mike with his left right after Chester.
It was a private moment and I really don't wanted to disturb them at all.. *grins* Anyways, the gigs was weird. It was definitely not the best gig ever. Don't get me wrong I like them on stage but damn too many Lyrics problem between Mike who's messing with two chorus and Chester who's forgetting some of his, Brad with some bad note once again.. and the crowd wasn't as amazing as during Bercy. They were cold and weird. *sighs*

Anyways, I had a freaking good time at RaR fest. Slash is love, Corey is love.. oh yeah damn. I really enjoyed the second day of the fest. I'm freaking too old for camping under rain really I do.
