Someone tell me why I assign longass projects. I'm staring at a HUGE pile of essays I need to grade. I will probably be grading all week, grumbling about how kids these days have no idea what editing and revision mean. I'll be like an old man

You assign the long ass projects because you had to do them, it's only fair that they have to do them. Think of it this way...SOME of them with their sheer stupidity and lack of trying have to make it easy for you to grade.
