This is my first Friday back at work after 4 weeks in Central America and i'm desperately searching around for things to distract me from new Superannuation taxation...stuff (ahh, my English vocabulary has suffered for my Spanish one) so I have been catching up on rarely visited blogs...anyway, this entry made me think of the time i spent in Guatemala City with a very old friend who has been working in Human Rights for the past 10 years (currently with the UN) and who told me that she now just wants to go and live in a small community and devote herself to local politics, stick to the grass roots. Which is close to my fuzzy future plans of local government - "Grass Roots" style! (perhaps not, but in reality, probably. I think local government is more often about shopping centres and corrupt developers than youth centres and community gardens.)
