This first time I watched these was the summer after Season 2 finished airing. The WB (American channel) aired the "Summer of Buffy." It was a great opportunity to catch up with what I had missed.

I came to these eps a disconsolate browncoat, longing for more Firefly and willing to try even something as cheesy-sounding as Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the chance.

Almost gave up after The Harvest, but I'm so glad I stayed.

I love the way fans remember Jesse. The way knowing what Amy will become puts The Witch into a whole different perspective. Goodness, how young DB looks.

I remember seeing the article about a new show in an issue of TV Guide back in '96, and since the movie to me, at the time, wasn't half bad, and I liked vampires so when it premiered, I tuned in. I remember being slightly bored with Angel's cryptic routine, and Xander and Willow to be honest, but Giles was pleasantly upper-crusty British and I liked his chemistry with Buffy, but two things stood out for me, made me make a point of tuning in the next week ( ... )

I first watched in January 2010. I almost stopped watching after season 1 -- I mean, I liked it, but I didn't love it. Who knew that I'd later become obsessed!

And unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to start my rewatch, but I'm going to try to catch up ASAP.

Well, I think season 2 was more interesting right from the start, from When She Was Bad. I liked that they showed Buffy behaving in a really reprehensible, hurtful way in response to trauma; that they were willing to show us a hero in a lot of pain who was capable of inflicting pain on her friends, and who pushed people away rather than opening up and asking for help (shades of season 6!)

I also loved Spike and Dru immediately, and that show was giving us vampires with distinct and much more layered personalities.

But the moment I was really hooked -- the moment I became a true fan -- was when Angel lost his soul, and Angelus became the season's Big Bad. Yeah, from that moment on, I was completely mesmerized.

I don't remember exactly when I watched these episodes. As I've said before, I had no way to watch the early seasons in real time unless I was visiting someone who got the WB (and who was willing to let me watch a show called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". I'd see reviews of the show in the newspaper and magazines, and knew it was something I wanted to watch (even if the word "vampire" hadn't been in the title), I just could do it regularly. Most of the early seasons I watched in real time I saw when in Florida visiting my parents - and I wasn't there all that often. It's possible they weren't even in real time - I may have been catching reruns. I suspect I watched a lot of the episodes all at once some how. I know once I had the dvds, I did make a point of watching all the episodes in order. The more I think about it, the more I think I probably saw later episodes first and came back to catch up on these first few. I'm not sure how intrigued I would have been by the first one... (and I'm probably not going to have time this week for the ( ... )
