I'm enbarking on a Hulu enabled project of re-watching old TV shows that I have known and loved. With the summer TV schedule looking pretty slim for anything worth spending time on, I figured it wasn't such a bad idea. With the
lynnevitational fast approaching, I also figured that starting with Buffy the Vampire Slayer *really* wasn't such a bad idea. Although,

What I didn't realize was how phenomenal it was and would continue to be ...
Absolutely! I didn't start watching until my boss rec'd Angel to me and then I had to go back and watch all of Buffy 1-3.
I laughed. BUT!! There's that lovely moment in the crypt where she asks him if he knows what it's like to have friends, where he gets very real all of a sudden. The mask that he's been wearing to impress Buffy, falls away and we realize that this is the real guy. The pensive, friendless pretty man who really should NOT be wearing a crushed velvet coat fortheloveofgod!
This is why I love Angel so much. You do get to see how vulnerbale he is beneath the mask.
I,too, do not think that Buffy would have been anything like Cordelia if she had stayed in LA. She had too much empathy with those around her.
I loved reading this. You've captured everything I love about the characters and the show.

DB does a good job with the subtlty with Angel, especially in the beginning before all the cards are on the table about who he is and how he feels about Buffy. It's beautiful to behold.

You know, you're totally right. You're absolutely right. But Xander has always been my least favorite character. Something about him sits wrong with me and I know that I never do him justice when I'm including discussions of him in anything. So, thanks for pointing out the good because it is definitely there.
I really do have to work on being more even handed with him.

An interesting presentation...
And I'm one of those sad people who saw 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer - NEW series' and thought, 'Gosh, that sounds good.' But then, I hadn't seen (or even heard of) the film... So, I'm feeling very virtuous! :~)))

You SHOULD feel virtuous because that movie is bad bad bad bad!!!! I can't believe that I missed out on the first two season as a first run because that movie left such a sour taste in my mouth that I wouldn't even give it a chance.
whether they manage to retain the traits they started with.
Actually, I'm really loving this whole project because it's really allowing me the opportunity to go back and watch the show and be more academic about the whole thing. I kept planning to rewatch and just never really did, but now I have a reason and with the episodes coming up on Hulu it makes it SO easy. Totally loving this whole thing! Plus, the minutiae is all starting to fall into place, you can read so much of what will happen on the tiny things that did happen. Loving it!
