The new Star Tek movie is stunning. Great action and drama combined with a good plot, but what makes the deepest impression is the way it's visually imagined. It's awesome in the fullest sense. It's basically just big budget Star Trek AU fan-fiction. I really laughed in the last one when Abrams reversed the whole Wrath of Khan sacrifice scene and had Kirk being the one in the chamber instead. That's exactly what I would have done! :P
