Just breaking in a new laptop after my old one bit the dust and it's taking a lot of getting used to, so apologies if I'm (even) more than usually sporadic about responding to things.

I'm sure this one will eventually but I always struggle with change, and this is a bigger leap than usual cos it has windows 8.1 which means none of my old tried and trusted msworks programs are compatible any more, and I'm finally going to have to confront the vast new frontier of Office 365 :S

Eep, I went through that with bot the pc and the laptop, each has 8.1 bing on it, which I loathed to start with, but again that's growing on me, and I managed to port all my programmes across eventually, but then I wasn't using msworks O_O

It also has this weird thing, because both the bits of tech are bing, and I have a specific account, if I change my desktop on one machine...it changes it on the other! VERY WEIRD!

I bought my new laptop a year and a half ago (huh? not so new then...) and I f**king HATE W 8.1! :@ Luckily when W10 comes out I have a year to upgrade it to W10, for free! That's for all W7 and W8 and W8.1 users!
I loved my old one with xp on it.... For some things it's still better than this one, except it's preeettty slow.

Ah, we all miss good ol' XP. Windows 7 wasn't too bad once I got used to it. What I really hate is that this is the first release of windows I haven't been able to load my old msworks discs with Picture It on, and I still haven't found a photo manip program that I like as much as that one. It was cheap, easy to use, and did everything I needed it to.

Wouldn't count on windows 10 being any better :(

I don't know anything about Picture. I do manips with the GIMP, totally free!
I'm hoping that W10 will be more like xp...
