The process . . .

As some of you will be aware from my comments on the Writer's Block, my muses are making me sing for my supper at the moment, but encouraging words have been encouraging (thanks folks ♥) and after brainstorming sessions with a friend some progress has been made, at least. I'm now pretty clear on the key personnel of the upcoming episode and just ( Read more... )

Have you tried writing out of sequence? I find when my head won't allow me inside the details it helps to come at it from a different angle, so the whole beginning middle and ending thing flies out the window, but I find that helps *hugs*

I've been considering it. The early Sam and Dean scenes are kinda disconnected from the monster plot, though, so they're not likely to clear the fog for me but that might be wrong thinking. You never know where the ideas are going to come from, do you? Writing a serial forces me to write linearly (is that a word?) on the whole, but if I get desperate enough, I'll do it. I can't post out of order, though. I have enough faith in my muses that I don't always wait for the whole plot to be clear before I start writing, but this is the first time I haven't at least had enough to go on to write the prologue. One time I knew what my monster was, but I didn't know who had raised it or why. I started writing anyway and just trusted it would come; made my prologue a scene from the middle of the story with the intention of doing the "one week earlier" trope to tell the story of how we got there. Anyway, it was set on a movie shoot and, half way thru the mechanics of the scene made it necessary for me to bring in the director. Who is this director ( ... )

LOL, I love that I now know where it all came from :D Thanks so much for sharing hun!

Linearly is so a word (I say this with utter confidence because my little squiggly line of *you suck at spelling* didn't pop up under it as I typed ;D)

I think, even if you can't post out of sequence, maybe trying the writing out of sequence wouldn't hurt hun *hugs*

My Fran Spires alter ego, you mean? Yep, she manifested herself out of the pages of my 4th episode. Very dangerous woman, but with a soft spot for Sam and Dean ;)

I'm off on a midweek break up north for the next few days, but if I don't come back sizzling with inspiration for my prologue, I will try starting on the next scene first :)

As I said earlier, I'll be here waiting! Of course I would actually like to read the *whole* thing at once! But I'm just reading and you are writing which is much harder!
I'm also a pretty fast reader, even when beta-ing. I just helped a writer with beta-ing her story. Took me 70 minutes to beta a 5,5k word story. Including corrections and comments!
So, I'll be patiently waiting!

*hugs*

I wish I could read faster. I'm really slow, and I rarely read anything longer than 2-3000 words because it just takes me too long, which is ironic because that means I'd never have started reading my own story O_O

I'm not a writer but think it might help, too. I still remember how it was with writing a school essay. It was always the matter of the first coherent sentence popping up - if I've managed to catch it, I've had the whole essay done easily. :)

I find it difficult to allow myself to do things out of order, but it is helpful sometimes and I do do it occasionally.
