Maybe it's because Sam's psychic that he is vulnerable to doc Elliot?
And I think all the ghosts except for this one have just burned up or sorta just disappeared in flames. Which kinda makes more sense!
I actually watched this episode last night! So now when you wrote about it I could see it all in my mind.

Thank you for these shorter, more frequently posted recaps!

Yes, I think having a ghost calcify was a very weird idea! :D
I think there were probably a combo of reasons why Ellicott picked on Sam, but mainly it seems probable that he sensed Sam's anger, since that was his field of research when he was living.

Great to hear that you're watching along with me! :) And I'm really pleased that the new approach is working for you. Many thanks for the feedback :)

We’re left to speculate on why Dean was less affected than Sam.

It seems to me that Elliot's effect on Dean was shorter in time than on Sam. It could also be that Elliot has already fed some of Sam's energy and taken much less energy from Dean. Just for thought. Thanks for the review

“…should we be concerned that he identifies so readily with the mindset of the criminally psychotic?” - yes lol. That little pat and “sorry sammy” is so important here after the awful things rage-drugged sam said. I feel like it really helps pull the audience view back into shape regarding impressions about the brothers at this point.
