Tuesday, 27 July 2021: Apartment Living

Jul 27, 2021 16:20

I lived all my life in one house or another, with a few brief exceptions. Owning the house I lived in was a live-long goal, and I was an over-achiever. We lived in the house on Fairdale Road for 25 years and on Lombard Street for 37. Fairdale Road was a two-and-a-half story row house; Lombard Street, another row house, had three-and-a-half stories ( Read more... )

Nice looking pool. That's quite a benefit to apartment living! So glad you're getting use from it. I swim 5 days a week, so can appreciate how much having this available to you can mean.

I'm making more of an effort to use the pool this year than I have in the past. Today was a fail, I'm sorry to say. Got up around 9:00, had breakfast, puttered around straightening the kitchen, felt sleepy, went back to bed,. I never go back to bed. This time I slept until 3:00. Did not immediately put on my bathing suit and go to the pool. Major Fails to Meet. FanSee

What a beautiful pool. I haven't been in water for many years, but I remember that swimming always made me deliciously tired. I hope you enjoy it as much as you can.

Dim sum... When I worked in the West Loop it was easy to jump on the El to China Town and eat dim sum for lunch. Authentic ethnic food is the biggest thing I miss about Chicago. I'll bet it was a mix of excitement and caution, the first time eating in a restaurant again.

You know, I didn't feel worried at all. I felt happy.

The restaurant wasn't at all full, so there were empty tables on every side of us. I might have felt differently if the place had been as crowded as usual. FanSee

If I won the lottery, my goal would be to buy a house where I could put in an *indoor* pool - I love the water, but even here in California, the season where an outdoor pool is comfortable, is not very long. That being said - our town public pool is an outdoor pool, and is open year-round - but it is definitely *significantly* harder to get myself to go when it is dismal and January-ing out there :D

I always enjoy the time IN the pool - regardless of the weather - it's the getting OUT part that sucks when it is cold and grey out :D

I'm glad you are taking advantage of your pool!

When my brother built his dream house, he included an indoor lap pool: three lanes. He really used it, too. Then Stephanie left him, and he sold the house. I'm so glad Brenda took a chance him...she is Peter's third wife...because this time the marriage worked. Their son, Paul, is a couple of years out of college, so Pete and Brenda must have celebrated their 25th anniversary already. FanSee

Oh that sounds fabulous - a lap pool of his very own :D

That's awesome that your brother kept persisting till he found a keeper!

Today was a Fails to Meet. *sigh* I took a long nap this afternoon which did feel necessary but afterwards I wasn't motivated to get into my swim suit and go for a swim. Boo, hiss! Bad FanSee bad bad bad.

Nah, don't beat yourself up. You obviously needed that sleep. You can always pop into the pool tomorrow. :)
