Moving On

Jul 02, 2018 23:32

As I told you in my Sold! post, I signed an Agreement of Sale a week ago. My feelings about the move are mixed...as guavejuice so accurately described them, "bittersweet." On one hand, if I stayed here until 12 January 2019, I would have lived here 35 years. I've put a lot of myself into the house to make it way I like it. I love my neighborhood. Even though ( Read more... )

It's good to hear that you're doing well, all in all. Actually, I think you do exceptionally well, considering your age. I hope I'm doing as well by then. It's just too bad that you have to sell your house, though it's perfectly understandable. I know our house is already beginning to be too much.

And yay for the new therapist! Your so lucky that he was able to pinpoint the problem.

When my 'regular' therapist came back to work, I met with her and went over the new exercises I had been given. As tactfully as possible, I told her that they had been very helpful, that i was going to be very busy with my move, and that I would get back in touch in September if I needed more therapy.

After my surgery, my surgeon was reluctant for me to do my exercises for a few days, so I just resumed them on Wednesday. I had been having back pain again, but three days' worth of exercises (including this morning) and I was on my feet most of today, pain-free! FanSee

Awww... I'm so touched that you thought my words so accurately described your feeling about selling your house and moving on.

I figured it had something to do with you getting 'slightly' older*g* I mean even a lively energetic young-at-heart lady such as yourself couldn't resist the perks of using an elevator instead of stairs.
Take care my dear

I'll miss your lovely red door as well even though I'd only ever seen it in your userpic <3

'Bittersweet' so exactly describes the yo-yo-ing feelings I have about leaving the house I have lived in so happily for 35 years vs moving into a lovely apartment that I will be furnishing exactly the way I want it.

I do worry, though, that I'll lose my ability to navigate stairs! Despite going up and down all day long, I don't do all that well, as it is. We'll see! FanSee

I admire your grit and determination! I think it's served you well, but I agree that it's time to move to Plan B. God knows, you've earned it. Making your life simpler and less prone to accidents? That's a good thing.

When my daughter and SIL decided I needed to live with them, they were looking to move out of L.A. County and into a less populated, simpler area, which turned out to be a little town in Ventura County. In looking for a house, they stipulated ranch-style, one-story homes and eventually bought one. As my knee and hip problems increased and neuropathy made it's ugly appearance, I was very glad they did! :)

We are both very fortunate in our families! It isn't every set of children who would harass us to move somewhere safer even as we (or at least me) dig in our heels.

Even though I feel quite stable on the stairs, it would only take one silly mistake for a disaster to occur. I just don't bounce like I used to. FanSee
