This October has been an epic month for me...epic in that I passed what felt like an important threshold...my 80th birthday...and epic in the number of events that occurred in my birth month, thanks to my family and friends

I don't find sitting back and enjoying a party tiring when I'm not responsible for its success. It's when I have to keep an eye on everything and be prepared to fix anything that goes off-course that I end up exhausted! All I had to do was enjoy myself. FanSee
I have to admit you're the coolest 80 year old person ever and I'm thrilled to call you my friend dearest Nancy. As always it's so lovely to 'meet' your family members and be a virtual guest at your family gatherings. Your 80th birthday was definitely a worthy occasion for a family celebration :) All the best to you dear friend HUGGGS V.

Awww, what a lovely thing to say. Thank you and big hugs!

It does feel like I passed a major milestone, in a way that 65 (when I started collecting social security), 70, and 75 didn't. I have now out-lived my mother who died nine days before her 79th birthday, and I am in far, far better shape than my father was at 80. By the time he celebrated his 80th, he was already struggling with congestive heart failure and had limited mobility.
I blame my much better health on one thing: I have never smoked. My father gave up cigarettes in his early 50's; my mother smoked well into her 70's. I think they both paid a penalty for those Bad Things. FanSee
You know, some people just celebrate their birth DAY. Some people even celebrate their birth WEEK. I don't of many people who get to celebrate their birth MONTH. Lucky you.

I AM lucky to have you as a friend, as I hope you know. We do get in trouble together, don't we? (I'm thinking specifically of crème brulee!) FanSee
