October has been a month jammed full of events, and I have fallen dreadfully behind. I'm attempting to catch up now, so welcome aboard the Way Back Machine where I start with my weekend in Nashville, Tennessee

It sounds as if you had an absolutely fantastic time. I'm not big on Country-Western music, but I would have loved to see the (I assume miniature) Parthenon. Of course, best would be spending time with your family. :-)
I regret not taking a picture of Nashville's Parthenon, but it was hot, I was tired, and I didn't want to walk far enough away to get a good picture. I'm fairly sure it wasn't a full size replica, but it was big enough to walk through.
I love love loved being on vacation with most of my family, but it also felt a bit disorienting, like "How come they're here, too?" FanSee
Thanks for yet another beautiful lively report dearest Fansee. You are indeed lucky to have such a loving supportive family.
Also, this Parthenon is located in a pretty little park with a lake
Nashville is one of my fav cities. I wish I was able to visit there on my trip to the US waaay back in August 1991 but our trip was so jammed packed as it is. I do however recognize the place you were referring to since I'm a huge huge fan of Robert Altman's movie Nashvile. AFAIR The film's iconic closing scene takes place there. Same goes with the original Grand Ole Opry's original auditorium in downtown Nashville, the Ryman Auditorium. I've never been there in person but it features in the movie Nashville as well as in one of my other fav movies of all times Coal Miner's Daughter. Hmm.. is there a pattern here? *g* Take care HUGGGS V. p.s the food loooks soooo yummi :)
I planned on rewatching Altman's movie Nashville for quite a while and I finally did so over the weekend. I have to say that even though some aspects of the movie seem a bit outdated this film still stands the test of time even 41 years after it was made. And btw- The Grand Ole Opry that's featured in this film is not the original from the 1940's but rather 'the new one' as one of the characters says so it coincides with what you mentioned in your post. And another fan fact- during the Grand Ole Opry's scene they do mention the Goo-Goo candy over and over in a form of a advertising jingle *g*
What a wonderful and totally thoughtful gift they gave you for your birthday, Nancy. It reminds me of when my Dad and Mom paid all my expenses so that I could join them for their 50th Wedding Anniversary Renewal of Vows. Their Anniversary is on the 22nd and my Birthday was the next day. Gifts like that are more valuable than gold, because I'll always have the memories that made that day (and the entire week after) so special

Our family has always prioritized travel over other treats because we value the resulting memories more than designer clothes or bigger, more expensive houses. Fortunately, we've always had enough to be able to have a roof over our head and clothes on our back plus the travel, but the travel was always figured into our budget. That was one reason that Nashville was such a meaningful gift.
Samantha and I liked the peanut butter Goo Goo Clusters, but the classic ones didn't do much for us. I was a little disappointed. I thought they would be gooey-er. FanSee
Sounds like a wonderful trip with those you love. A terrific gift. I'm glad you had such a good time and shared it with us. I am beyond fortunate in my family! For sure.
I've been to Nashville several times and was also lucky enough to see a show at the Ryman (about Patsy Cline) and to go to the Grand Ole Opry twice. I've liked country music since grade school. btw, I call the AT&T building The Batman Building. It definitely gets one's attention.
That building definitely looks like it was inspired by Batman. It's really odd. We would never have something like that in Philadelphia; we too conventional. FanSee
You are a very lucky lady, what a wonderful time with your family. I have been to Nashville for work, twice so I didn't get to see very much. I did eat at BB Kings and it was excellent. Thanks for sharing your wonderful trip.
