Oct 28, 2016 15:34

On Thursday, 22 September 2016, Judy and I had a second tour scheduled for 7:30 p.m.: the mosaics of St. Mark's Basilica. This tour was not included in the Dunnett Carnivale, but we could sign up and pay through the Carnivale website ( Read more... )

Ouch! I'm glad the fall wasn't as nasty as it could have been. Sneaky you for keeping it a secret, though. Don't you know you could have played that for sympathy later? ;)

I could have, couldn't I? I find all this falling business embarrassing, however. I often have to admit to it because the injuries show, so when I can get away with it, I'm happy to do so. FanSee

I wish you another 411 days without a fall, and than perhaps a stumble in a featherbed or similar soft landing spot :)

St. Mark's mosaics look truly stunning.

How many other tourists are in Venice?
An aquaintance told me to set Rome, Venice and Prague very low on my Want-to-go-there-list because, in her experience, the amount of other tourists there was ridicoulous - and I completely agree for Prague.

I wish you another 411 days without a fall...

Sshhh, don't tell anybody: I fell again yesterday, 29 October, when I was out door-knocking for Hillary. This time I badly bruised my chin so I couldn't keep it secret. Thankfully, my near and dear know I'm self-conscious about all this falling and tactfully did not mention it...except for my granddaughter. She wishes I wouldn't door-knock just because she is afraid I'll fall, so she had to say something.

How many other tourists are in Venice?

OMG, very very many, especially if a cruise ship is in port. Ugh. I've also been to Rome and found the deluge of tourists much less bothersome because the sights are more spread out. Venice is compact which means we were all on top of one another.

I've never been to Prague but would like to go. FanSee

I was saddened by the ending of my 411-day streak of no falls, but I kept that to myself.

Awww... so sorry to hear that your 411 streak came to an abrupt ending in such a way but luckily you were able to recover quite well. I wonder if that young tourist at least stopped to apologize to you or offered to help you?

The Basilica looks aaaamazing from the inside :) I can understand your wish to have more of an art history guided tour though. can't stop marveling at how stunning your pics are. Do the Mosaic pics belong to you? If so then it's hard to believe you took all of them while nursing a tender shoulder.

Looks like the gelato meal was a great idea and I LOVE your lottle story about those ice cream caps :)

Take care

He did not. He gave me an apologetic shrug and went back to taking his picture. I scrambled up as fast as I could (not very fast!) and hustled away as fast as I could, so he didn't have much of a chance to say something.

The first two mosaic pictures are not mine, but the rest are. My shoulder didn't really get tender until the next day and then only if I pressed on it. I was quite lucky.

I was happy to provide Liz' granddaughter with a serving size bowl for her set, even though it meant I had to force myself to eat three scoops of gelato! FanSee
