I'll admit, when I saw that it was songfic and read the first couple of lines, I had my doubts (and that even though I've used song titles myself for chapter headings before now, LOL)... but they didn't last long and I am SO glad you posted this. I don't know the band/music the Master is channeling but I will be checking it out...'
I hope you will write more bitter-sweet Doctor/Master fic...

I haven't written much Doctor/Master, but I'm glad this made you want more. There is definitely more between them than a simple enmity. Simm and Tennant really made it sing. :D

You win the prize for the best use of pop music in a story! While I use music for prompts almost all the time, I have a tendency to avoid any fic that is directly based on quoted lyrics (I've been burned).
This is brilliant. Eleven is...well, he would like to invite the Master out for texting and scones, because he's kind of an idiot. Koschei is a beautiful mess in a way that totally suits him. And Eve6 is ridiculous, but you make it all poignant and lovely and sad.
Also, "an Osterhagen Protocol of minds"--what an awesome line! I know that's an odd thing to pick out, but it just sticks with me.

I don't really think it is a song fic per se, because the use of the lyrics is ironic -- but it's certainly enough like songfic to scare readers away. I was in at least one fandom where the songfics were just deplorable. :P
I love how Simm!Master is such a beautiful mess! :D I think he would be in a very bad shape by the time he escapes from Gallifrey (because we all know HE WILL SOMEDAY!!!) Once I realized where I could go with this prompt, the story kind of wrote itself.
The other song the Master is quoting is "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" -- I can just see him belting it out mercilessly until the Doctor locks him in a room. :(
