Spike leant against the tree, smoking his fifth or sixth consecutive cigarette and watching the door of Xander's hut as the brightness of the day faded toward dusk. He was starting to learn Xander's routine, but he hadn't been at this long enough to be able to account for every minute--yet

Clark had gone for some food. He'd taken a nap and missed dinner, so finding some food sounded really good when he woke up. After talking to Xander for a little while, Clark had gotten ready. Since Xander's...debut and Clark's revelation, the two hadn't quite addressed Clark's admission. If there was one thing that Clark and Xander were good at, it was avoiding awkward conversations that involved some sort of heart wrenching reaction as a possibility. So, while the two weren't awkward around each other, and acted as if things were normal, there was a big fluffy ass pink elephant in the room

Spike jumped, swearing under his breath. "Bloody hell..." He really hated not having his heightened senses, sometimes. "Shouldn't sneak up on a bloke like that!" He sighed and regarded Xander's roommate with a bored expression.

"Or maybe you should pay more attention," Clark countered, quirking a brow. "How's it going? Come to see, Xander?" He looked past Spike toward the hut, and then back at Spike. Clark tilted his head a bit as he considered Spike's body language. You could tell a lot about a person by just watching them carefully, and wrapped his arms across his chest, and offered Spike a small smile. After all, there was no need to be unfriendly.

Spike glanced at the hut and nodded. "Yup. That's why I'm here. Come to see Xander," he agreed with a faint smirk. He made no move toward the door, though.
