Demon Mistress Cover--and Covers in General

I'm so thrilled--got the cover for Demon Mistress today and they just keep getting better and better in this series. :)  I'm thrilled with it, my editor and agent are thrilled.  The cover artist really *gets* my characters--and it's not always common for that to happen.  Out of 22 covers now, I've had two that made me cry (and not because I was ( Read more... )

I've totally had bad covers. From my very first book (which my editor still apologizes for) to a set I received earlier this year. Both times I was devastated, because they were "firsts" in one fashion or another. I was certain my sales were doomed and I'd forever cringe when I saw them. Luckily, though, most of my covers are absolutely spot on.

Congratulations on your new cover! The colors, texture, everything... Just gorgeous. :)

My covers for the Dog Days series have been great -- better than hoped for.

But the cover for my very first novel, a thriller/mystery, was so awful that it was basically camp -- and the book was anything but. The most common thing I heard was "What's up with that cover, anyway?" It had what looked like Elvis on a motorcycle -- and not in a good way.

Yaz, you've had fantastic covers for this series! I'm so jealous. I've loved every single one.

I got a bad cover for my sequel to Hell Kat. They had done this awesome manga style cover for Hell Kat and I LOVED it, and they had done another one for Inferno, but the bookbuyers said hell no, we don't like that, so at the last minute, and I'm serious about minute, they slapped something together, and I cried and cried and cried.

The book didn't sell well.

It is so weird how bookbuyers can totally nix a cover.

And yeah, my mystery with the bad cover--people didn't even realize it was the fifth one in the series.
