Current and Upcoming Works

My first book just came out in July. It's a young adult fantasy/chick lit hybrid about a teenage aura seer who moves to a new school and has to use her Sight to solve a potentially lethal supernatural mystery, all while trying to fit in amongst the most extreme clique scene known to man. Here's the back cover blurb:

I bought GOLDEN for myself as a birthday present b/c the release was on my Bday; I figured it was a sign. I'm glad too. It was a lovely read. I'll be picking up TATTOO too . . .

You're way too kind, Melissa. I don't want to jinx myself, but I think you'll like Tattoo more than Golden. Not that *I* would ever admit to having a preference (because that would feel like choosing a favorite child or something), but there's just so much more action, and a more in-depth mythology behind things.

And I canNOT wait for Wicked Lovely. I keep hoping my editor will come across an ARC, so I can beg it off of her. It sounds AMAZING.

You're a sweetie, dear, but I'm not actually kind. I'm a biased, surly person. BUT I don't keep my mouth shut very well when something pleases me. Your book pleased me.

Admittedly, I'm looking fwd to TATTOO b/c I'm a tat junkie so even temp tats as a plot element appeal to me.

RE: ARCs
I just got an email that ARCs are to be out mid-to-late November. I have no real concept of where they go or anything really. I was told that if the release was later they'd be at BEA, but it looks like BEA falls right around release so that won't happen.

I don't know if it's amazing, but I had fun writing it. I hope folks dig it.

I love the word "surly." I've often thought of myself that way, though I'm more INTERNALLY surly than externally. And- I have to admit- on the tat front, I was very tempted to get one to match the tats in the book, but ultimately refrained. Maybe once I start feeling like a grown-up (if that ever happens).

When is WL's official release date?

Melissa, it looks like we're gonna be release-date-mates. Did that make any sense?

Jen, you're an Okie, right? Me too. I'm sorry I missed you in OKC this summer.
