I am NOT watching the streaming video of the Deathly Hallows red carpet premiere. Because I know it'll only make me sad and upset. Mostly because I AM NOT THERE ( Read more... )

It does make you a bit sad, doesn't it? I watched the press conference for DH2 and I was thinking 'awwwww no' throughout. Can't believe it's all drawing to a close, although the true fans do say that Harry Potter will never end for them, which is nice. I really hope that when I have kids, I'll be able to introduce them into the world of magic that I sort of grew up in. *gets all sentimental ( ... )

I can't wait to introduce my nephew to Harry Potter. He's five, which I think might be a little young to have any interest in long stories (I would say seven or eight is about the age to read to him). He knows that "Auntie Kim" LOOOOOOOOOVES Harry Potter (I've trained him well. To the point where, if he sees a HP commercial, he squeals for me. And he came to visit the other day and had a HP Lego t-shirt, and his FIRST words, "LOOK, Auntie Kim! IT'S HARRY POTTER!!!!") so I think I'll be able to force him to sit down long enough to listen to the story ( ... )

Haha! It does sound like you've trained your nephew well. Seven or eight is probably the recommended age to start reading the books, although I guess it depends on the kid. I remember being unable to get into it when I was about nine, but came back to it when I was about thirteen and was like, 'What?! How did I not like this before???' But yes, I think it'll be nice to carry on the HP tradition with future generations. After all, there's no need to put it all to sleep just because no new books/movies are coming out ( ... )

Yeah, the books started coming out when I was ten, but I didn't start reading them until I was fourteenish. I think when the movies started coming out, I started giving them a try (HAAAA. Though I got dragged to the midnight book premiere for the forth book in 2000, so I can say that I went to every midnight book premiere that Barnes and Nobles held!)

Honestly, I'm at a point where I'm encouraging my friends NOT to adopt these guys. Because they're a LOT of work, and fairly expensive. Being in the fostering program, somebody who is actively looking for a cat can adopt them, and they'll be more prepared to take care of a kitten than my friends would be -_-

ALSO... I am SO incredibly D:!!! over the fact that the Lucius cane is for TS2. I've got TS3 D:!!!!!

I won't lie-- I'm not going to miss the stress of "OHMIGOD I haven't bought my ticket/book/movie yet-- will I be able to see it/read it/ get it at all? D:"

But I'm also going to miss the events. A decade of dressing up, making t-shirts, and reminding punkass high schoolers that WE were watching the PoA premiere at midnight while THEY were in kindergarten? Not to mention that I think my favorite HP memory of all time is a three-way tie between your Jewish grandmother Trelawney voice in the PoA movie, counting how many times Draco spins in the CoS duel, and the tarot reading you gave me at Borders during the DH book premiere. Gunna miss those opportunities for geekdom
