I'm going to pretend it all worked out after this. I've got to admit, I don't usually like fics wherein the group haven't seen each other in a long time, but this actually made sense and served a purpose. I love how the end is just the beginning, timing will always be an issue with these two. Well done!

It does! It does work out. That was the point of adding this little epilogue, the end of chapter 5 was just too depressing and I wanted to add this so readers know they actually do reconnect and are both on the same level and can finally get their shit together. Thanks!!

YAY! I know you didn't tell us they got together and made babies and lived happily ever after the end but it was close enough that they get to meet again so.
Also, I may not be the grinch but my heart def. grew a size or two at this story.
Perf.

Thanks! It just felt kind of soul crushing to end it with chapter 5, and I did have this little epilogue in mind since the beginning, so I decided to add it to perk up everyone's spirits and not end on such a depressing note. Thanks for reading and for all your lovely comments throughout this thing--it's really appreciated!!!

It's so many years after the fact to comment, but I'm working my way through ficus I missed.

What really makes me sad about this is that Jeff chose not to start a relationship with Annie because the family he found with the group was too precious to him to risk ruining. And yet, here we are now and they haven't seen each other for four years. :(

I always appreciate reviews and concrit even years after the story was posted! Holy crap! You bring up a really good point that I completely missed when I wrote this. If Jeff passed on being with Annie for the sake of not potentially ruining his found family, then it doesn't really make sense that they would have lost touch. The only thing I can think of is maybe Annie relocated post-graduation and is only recently back in Colorado. I could see them losing touch if they are living on opposite ends of the country. In my head, he stayed close with the rest of the group; it was only Annie he hadn't seen in years. Thanks so much for the feedback, I really appreciate hearing things like this--anything to help me improve my writing and plot holes.

This was my first attempt at a sadder, tragic story. The rest of my J/A fics are much happier. I hope you check my other stories out and let me know what you think! Thanks :D

I really love the story, it's one of the few where they don't end up together, and not because of angst or anger, just something very sad. Tragic is a great word for it.

I am making my way through older fics. Will definitely read the rest of yours :)
