“She’s freaking out.” Chloe said, turning back to Lois.

Lois frowned, “What do you mean ‘she’s freaking out’? Dinah’s supposed to be getting married in say -- 10 minutes!”

“Lois!”

“What? Right -- sympathetic. All over that.” Lois took a breath and marched towards the bridal suite.

----

“Dinah?” Lois said as she peered around the door.

“Lois.” Dinah neither looked happy or unhappy to Lois. Lois blinked, Dinah’s dark hair was curled and pinned up, supporting the jewelled tiara on her head. Her dress was a simple bodice and full skirt with ribbon lining the edges.

“You look -- wow.” Lois admitted.

“You don’t scrub up too bad.” Dinah gave her a small smile. Lois was draped in thick indigo satin, a long bodied corset built in and a long hem reaching the floor

“So what’s up?” Lois said, perching on a small foot stool.

“Wedding jitters I guess.” Dinah looked rather small, twiddling her fingers up in her satin handkerchief.

“You guess?” Lois blurted out, “Sorry but this is not the best time for this.”

“When is the best time? When we’ve been married 5 years and suddenly we’re getting divorced!” Dinah rushed out.

----

“Oliver.” Clark folded his arms. The other man was fidgeting in his suit, black with a white shirt and --

a green satin tie. Clark had thought it amusing when he saw it, less so when he realised as best man he would be wearing nearly the same thing. Green was not his colour.

“What?” Oliver ran his fingers through his hair, his body tensing and relaxing inconsistently.

“Stop fiddling.” Clark told him, adding the white rose to Oliver’s lapel.

“You’re not the one getting married.”

“Dinah loves you, what are you worrying about?”

“Women are fickle. Woman are --” Off Clark’s look Oliver rolled his eyes, “We understand the realism of our situation Clark. What if she decides that life as a Superhero’s wife isn’t what she wants?”

“Ollie, Dinah isn’t exactly lacking in the hero department either.”

“But she’ll still worry about me. About whether or not I can handle myself. It’s just the way it is with the people you love.” Oliver surmised.

“She loves you and wants to be with you and that’s what matters.” Clark said, happily.

----

Lois rubbed her hand over her face, “Right, you’re worried about Green Arrow getting in the way of -- normalcy?”

“Yes. I mean it changes everything to get married. It adds more pressure…” Dinah had pulled up another foot stool next to Lois’, her hands moving animatedly, “…to do things, have things. Have kids.”

“Oh. -- I see.” Lois nodded, “Green Arrow and Black Canary don’t and won’t have kids. It’s just not…”

“Feasible?” Dinah finished.

“Then it’s the choice you have to make with yourself.” Lois said wisely.

“A choice?” Dinah asked, puzzled.

“You have to decide for yourself whether or not the mundane is truly what you want or if you’re willing to sacrifice it all for -- for the extraordinary.” Lois smiled gently, “Dinah you know whether or not Ollie is the one for you in the same way I knew he wasn’t the one for me.”

“The way Oliver has terrible taste in women?” Dinah joked, Lois just poked her in the arm, “If Ollie was the one, why am I so worried?”

“Because even heroes worry about their happy endings.” Lois smiled, her hand rested on Dinah’s shoulder as she got up, “Come on. Soon to be Mrs Queen.”

“How’d…”

“Because I’m Lois Lane. I know everything.” Lois placed Dinah’s veil over her head and did the finishing touches before the two women headed out to the alter.

----

The wedding had been a success, Mr and Mrs Queen where now currently enjoying a reception with their nearest and dearest. Clark was stepping rhythmically to the music, he wasn’t a great dancer but he could sway with the best of them. Lana hadn’t complained about his feet yet so he was taking it as a good sign.

Lois was striding across the dance floor, Clark’s eyes watched her legs eat up the floor beneath her. Lois stopped and looked at Clark, “Put your eyes back in your head Smallville.”

Jostled out of his trance, Clark fumbled and stood on Lana’s toe, “Oops!”

Lois laughed at him, “If I didn’t know any better, with dancing like that I’d say you never really knew the touch of a woman.”

Glaring, Clark apologised to Lana, who smiled and told him she was going to get a drink, “Lois. You’re speaking -- why?” He teased.

“Whatever Clark, gotta run - wedding stuff. Who knew when I got up this morning I’d be near enough running my ex’s wedding?” Lois laughed as she continued her path to where the happy couple where standing.

Clark shook his head, he had given up trying to catch Lois throughout the day because like she said, she had practically coordinated the Lance-Queen nuptials without a hitch. He wasn’t sure what she had said but it had obviously averted and prevented any and all crisis‘.

The outside world wouldn’t be so forgiving. Clark heard the shuffling of an explosion two towns over, walking in the same direction that Lois had, he went to find Oliver to tell him. Hopefully he’d be back in time for the speeches.

Oliver acknowledged Clark’s approach, Dinah turned to greet Clark too, “Hey Clark.”

“Dinah, you look wonderful.” Clark told her truthfully as he kissed her cheek.

“Something wrong Clark?” Oliver asked, concerned.

“Nothing you need to worry about but I will have to disappear for awhile.” Clark said, loosening his tie.

“Okay well, see you soon?” Dinah said, turning away as if to look for someone.

“I’ll be back before you know it.” Clark told them, heading towards the elevator. Ripping his shirt, his Superman ‘S’ revealed, the doors opened and Lois stood on the other side of them.

“Why - honey, your S is showing.” Lois told him with a smirk and a seductive tone. Clark pulled off his tie completely and threw it around Lois’ neck. She fiddled with the fabric, gently. Clark bent down slightly and kissed Lois quickly on the lips.

“I’ll be back.”

“Mhmm. Don’t be too long you have to give your speech.” Lois reminded him. Clark nodded his understanding before turning into a primary coloured blur. Lois blinked and Clark was in front of her in full Superman dress.

“I love you.” Clark told Lois, he always did when he went to save someone, like their habitual peck on the lips it was just something they did.

“I love you too.” Lois replied, tilted her head up to watch Clark burst through the top of the elevator.

----

Clark was not back in time for his toast. For a moment Oliver looked panicked but his wife stood up beside him with her champagne glass in hand.

“I know this is a little unorthodox but with the people in this room I think I can say what I want.” Dinah smiled, secretly. Close to the front sat A.C., Bart, Victor and new additions Diana and Bruce. “I would like to make a toast to a woman who taught me something today.”

Everyone did as she asked and Dinah continued, “I want to toast to Lois Lane Kent, who taught me that marrying a hero isn’t the end of something -- it’s just the beginning.”

There was a loud applause for Lois as she stood and did a little bow for everyone, her wedding rings glinting against her glass in the dim light. Clark now stood in the background, his glass held high as his wife turn back instinctively and showered him with her dazzlingly smile.

“I love you.” He mouthed.

Lois didn’t hesitate in replying, “I love you too.”
