When Harry arrived home from school, he didn't dump his book bag by the front door like he usually did. Instead, he carried it with him down the polished corridor to his uncle's study.

"Did you get it?" asked Bob the moment his spectral essence had fully manifested.

"Jeez, Bob. You make me sound like some kind of drug pusher."

"Yes. Quite right. Sorry. But did you get it?"

"If anyone sees me with this thing it could ruin my reputa---"

"Harry, please!"

"Yes, okay? It's right here!"

The teenager set the bag on the nearest chair and opened it. Bob stepped closer and anxiously watched as the boy reach inside and rummage around.

"This one, right?" asked Harry as he revealed the library book Promise Me Tomorrow by Nora Roberts.

"That's exactly the one," confirmed Bob, delighted. He rubbed his hands together as if he could already feel the pages. "Excellent. Thank you."

Harry frowned. But wait… Bob couldn't feel the pages. His hand passed through everything he tried to touch.

"Um, Bob? How are you going to read this thing? You're a ghost."

"I have devised ways to read without physical touch," he replied. "Although you would probably find them disconcerting. If you would leave the book in your bag? And 'misplace' it behind the grandfather clock? You may return it when you go to school in the morning."

"Sure. Okay. I can do that."

"And Harry? Not a word to your uncle, please."

"Are you kidding? I wouldn't be caught dead reading one of those things!" Harry suddenly winced. "Ooops. Sorry, Bob."

"That's quite alright," said the ghost, amused. "I am already dead and I have no intention of getting caught."
