After they finished their yogurt, Penny invited him to the pool. Billy's flattered, if his increase in stuttering and mumbling was any indication. He yanked at the ties of his hoodie and found invisible loose threads in his tan chinos; his face blushed a pleasant shade of pink across the bridge of his nose. He finally said, "R-r-really, it's okay?" like he thought he needed to ask permission.

Penny though it was cute and guilty wondered if she should tell him Captain Hammer asked her to go steady with him. "Sure, but you don't need to ask permission." He made a pleased little humming noise at the back of his throat.

---

Of course, he's happy. Billy could have practically walked on air. No wonder he didn't feel the need to wear the Dr. Horrible persona today on top of cute little stuttering Billy who nobody noticed and nobody ever would. Dr. Horrible, the whip cream on Billy pie that was him. No, he could be Billy for her, because she wanted him to be, Billy because she needed him to be.

The pool... putting sunscreen on her pale skin to make sure she didn't get skin cancer, because that would be bad. Her breasts in particular were a target for malignancies. He would focus on those the most. Not that he was being a pervert, he was looking out for her. He was a good guy for thinking of her every need.

The pool was nice aside from the people. Billy never really liked people very much. They were always talking and loud and talking and always wanting to know how was your day. Why did they always want to know how your day was? How nosey could you get? Quite rude of them really. But to wear a swimsuit with Penny at the pool. That was beyond nice-nice. Plus, even if he was on the thin side and his forehead was large (that just meant he had sexy brains), he had some nice muscles for his frame.

And Penny would notice them and realize muscle-bound was ugly once she saw his cute butt. He knew he had a cute butt, he checked it out to make sure. He even put blond highlights to add depth to his dark golden blond locks (and cool guy tips always looked cool once he got his hair in his mad scientist hairstyle). She would see that and love that.

For once in his thirty-two years of life, Billy was able to go shirtless in public. "Billy?"

Billy blinked before smiling at Penny. "What is it?"

"Sunscreen, Billy? You're awfully pale."
