No, Tari, I said that in general about soldiers, I said that "they're soldiers", not because they're Americans, or American soldiers. Sure, there are those who go on to being a soldiers with a good cause. There are also good soldiers out there doing thier duties correctly. Hell, there wouldn't be a state (NOT referring to the US) if there weren't soldiers.
I think you have soldiers in your family, right? Anyhow, this is not directed at them. This is directed at those kind of soldiers in whereever and from whichever countries they're stationed in that go around on a spree because they have the power to do so or especially because they ARE TOLD to do so. Now, that's braindead.
And by the way, you should also know that I'm a pacifist and thus pretty much very against the use of military force in dealing with any international conflicts. Sure, there were time when I blew last year, but that went to show me more about why I have to be against violence and the use of force.
Politically speaking, I am sure that there are a lot more chance of peace internationally....conflicts that can be settled diplomatically instead of the use of military forces. However, it always come down to the selfishness of interests of each country....or rather, in a lot of cases, their leaders. Now, that's another problem.
No love, you directed your comments toward American soldiers who, from what I've seen, were doing nothing more than being respectful to their flag. You mentioned no other country nor showed any other flag.
Has nothing to do with whether you are a pacifist or not. I would expect German or Thai soldiers to salute their flag if they were a guest in my country. In fact, I would be quite sad if they showed no emotion at all.
I'm sorry, but I do feel you were mocking my country. Tis your right to do so, but it's my right to feel offended.
