If it's only three or four rows below you can put a safety pin on that loop to stop it from unravelling any further and knit until you get to the point where the ladder is. Stop your knitting and use a crochet hook to pick up the dropped stitch back and looping it through the ladders to make the missing stitch. Pick it up until you reach the top and start knitting with it again. You have to watch out that you pick the stitch up the right way (as in a purl or a knit stitch) though. That's where I actually learned to knit in the very first place. ;)
