Pinkie wasn't good at "stay back out of danger". And giant attack-bunnies sounded close enough to Twilight's Equestria magic for her to feel pretty comfy about going out to see what's what.
She was bouncing happily back and forth in the park, dodging drop bears and pestering the creatures with questions. "Where are you from? Do you smell like eucalyptus? Ew, no you do not. You should see someone about that tartar build up. Why are you so vicious but so cute?!"
She got blasted off her feet by an exploding egg, and sat up in a halo of twinkly stars, her outfit gently scorched. "You call that an explosion?" she yelled, and pulled out a shaker of sprinkles, dumping a hefty pile into her hand and tossing them at the giant bunny skulking nearby.
The park was briefly filled by a near blinding flash. The blast blew the leaves, drop bears, and octopuses from a nearby tree.
"That's an explosion!" she said, and threw her head back in a mad cackle.
It took Zack a moment of blinking to clear the spots from his vision after that flash, but a moment later he was taking off after the source of it, sword raised, just in case--
"Oh. Huh."
Okay, the cackling girl seemed to be doing fine on her own. He scratched at his head for a second, and then shrugged.
"You seem to have this under control over here, huh?"

"Well, we haven't been introduced yet," he pointed out, and then held out a hand toward her. "But that can be fixed easily enough. I'm Zack!"
