Their efforts against the monsters yesterday had had a real effect. There was nothing left to do for now besides find the monster that lived in the principal's tower-- perhaps with her death, something would change.
And so, a small group assembled on Sunday morning to make that a reality.

Instead, it began to flicker anew. In small pulses, much like it had on Wednesday: a sliver of an intact wall here, a warm bed there, fridges filling up and then immediately emptying again.
This time, it only took an hour or three for the full change to settle in. At around dinner time, the walls between two planes came down anew, separating one group of Fandomites from the other.
Just before the present's Fandom folk made it over, they might have been able to catch a sight of a fog lifting.

Her face had lost some of the haggard look. The one that came from constant pain.
"Darlin'," he said, and moved to put his arms around her. "You're okay."

He sighed.
He sighed slightly less loudly as he realized they were not taking the sun with them; as he watched the fog pull away to reveal the ravaged world around them. Here and there, an inquisitive hollow staggered along the causeway. It hadn't healed.
"Well, something's definitely changing," he murmured, watching Limbo empty slowly, like an hourglass, as if the spirits of their dead had been as trapped as they were. "I wonder what comes next."

She kept her voice cool. Casual. If he wanted to go, he'd go. End of story. Everything that happened between them this morning--between all of them--wasn't a guarantee of anything more, after all.
