Caritas, Friday, Oct. 7

Oct 07, 2016 15:30

Didi spent her shift cleaning out the storage locker, which meant a lot of taste-testing the dustiest and weirdest bottles to see if they were worth keeping.

Her conclusion was largely "no," with a side of "liquor companies are weird."

Peter peered in, saw Didi, and smiled and waved as he came over to the bar. "Hi." He cocked his head at the odd assortment of bottles. "Trying to come up with the strangest drink ever?"

[SP okay? Driving home soon.]

"No, but that might be next," Didi said, with a quick grin for Peter. "How would you feel about watermelon schnapps, cinnamon whisky and wedding cake vodka?"

Peter squinted skeptically and laughed. "Pick two, I think. What are you doing, then?"

"I would have started at one," Didi said, but poured a little of the cake and cinnamon liquors into a glass before topping it off with pineapple juice and passing it to Peter anyhow. "Nothing exciting. I'm just trying to clean out the storage room. Whoever did the ordering wanted to be ready for anything."

"So," Kanan was wearing a smile (slightly on the tense side; it had been a rough week) as he made his way into the bar. "If a guy happened to have it in his head that he wants to try a pina colada, where would he have to go to get one of those?"

... He'd gotten tired of drinking alone. Again, rough week.

"I actually know how to make that one," Didi told him, smiling back. "So, here. Here is a good start."

She moved to get the bottles she'd need and added, over her shoulder, "I was trying to figure out whether we should keep some of the weird stuff from the storage room. It's nice to take a break and mix a normal drink."

Kanan made himself comfortable at the bar, raising a curious eyebrow at Didi at that one.

"See, now you know I'm going to have to ask what exactly qualifies as an abnormal drink."

Because he was still of the opinion that most Earth things were weird. And this from a guy who thought milk really ought to be blue.

"It's a scary world," Didi told him. "We have Vermont milk vodka, pizza beer, cotton candy vodka, and ... yep, this bottle has a giant centipede in it. I can't imagine why we stuck that in the back."

And no, the milk vodka wasn't blue.
