Peter had an actual employee starting today, which meant he supposed he should get ready. Which mostly meant making sure that his notes and accounting system made sense to anybody sane, and not just him

Khadgar didn't have anyone visiting him either, and this was a nice distraction from that fact. He got to the flower shop nice and early and waved at Peter as he came inside. "Oh, this place looks nice. I've only peeked in through the window before," he said in greeting.
"Thanks," Peter said, smiling back. "When I got to the island, it was more jungle than anything in here, and I started cleaning it up just for something to do. Apparently that means I own it now."
"Considering how much effort that must have been, ownership might be a just reward. I'm imagining you with some sort of sword chopping through foliage and dodging jungle animals." After a moment, he added, "Wait, was there anything alive in here?"
Peter laughed. "Apart from the plants? Only a few lizards and bugs. I shooed out as many as I could."
He stepped over to a healthy-looking plant with tendrils across the entire window. "This guy was doing really well. I hated to cut him back too much." He tugged lightly on one of the leaves. "Some of these others are cuttings from him."
