The Gig, Saturday

The massive pile of acorns that had blocked the barn entrance last week was now scattered all over the ground. They gave a satisfying crunch as Dani stomped on them with her boots. Hopefully business would be good this weekend with extra visitors on the island, and having an unobstructed barn entrance would help.

The Gig was open!

And speaking of visitors...

Junior heard the noise of someone entering the barn and stood up from his improvised bed of hay. "Hey sis!" he called out.

It was a very good thing for Junior that Dani did not have a pitchfork in her hands. "Ken Davis Jr, what the hell are you doing here?" barked Dani.

"I wanted to visit my sister. You know, when you said you lived on an island, I was expecting something a bit more tropical. Any way you can turn the heat up?" asked Junior, shivering as he wrapped his windbreaker around him.

"Half-sister," Dani automatically corrected him. She took one last sip of her latte and handed the rest to Junior. "Here, finish that off to warm up. You know, I have a perfectly good guest room. There was no reason for you to stay in a barn."

"No matter what, you'll always be my sister," said Junior. "And the barn seemed comfortable enough. I'm really impressed with what you've done with this place."

"Thanks. What are you doing here, Junior? Fandom isn't your typical vacation spot," said Dani.

"I need some sisterly advice, Dani," said Junior, turning serious. "You managed to break away from Dad and become a success without needing his money. I need to know how you did it, because I'm pretty sure Dad is going to cut me off when he hears that I'm going to marry Kris Furillo."
