Groovy Tunes, Saturday

Jono could make himself available in his office today, but the truth of the matter was, he would really rather claw out his own eyes than spend a day sitting at his desk waiting for somebody to come along to grill him on what he was teaching their little darlings. Besides, he had a business to run, here. There was a new Janet Jackson album out ( Read more... )

Of course Harry was continuing his completely reasonable round of the island while avoiding Eggsy completely. He was just there to make sure Lee's son was doing alright.

And was apparently employed doing something that was legal. Consider Harry proud.

"Good morning."

See? Jono was nothing if not the type to at least try to offer something that resembled legal employment!

//Morning,// he greeted, glancing up and nodding from behind his computer screen.

Bloody supplier, anyway.

//Can I help you, mate?//

He really didn't look like Groovy Tunes' usual customer base, no.

Well, thank you for that Jono! It certainly helped.

"I believe you can," Harry replied kindly. "I am here to check in on an employee of yours."

Jono considered that one for a moment, and then, coming to the conclusion that even an accent didn't necessarily narrow that one down one, just nodded and spread his hands, gesturing for Harry to pull up one of the seats nearby if he felt so inclined.

They were there for people who wanted to sit and play guitar, but hey, they were multi-purpose chairs that way.

//And which one might that be?//

"Eggsy Unwin," Harry replied, taking the offered seat with the sort of dignity it deserved.

Because this totally seemed the sort who kept company with Eggsy.

Jono's only real outward reaction to that one was the slightest lift of one eyebrow. He could British with the best of them, after all.

//Ah, the lad who works Mondays for me,// he mused. //Mind if I ask what relation you are to him? We get all sorts around here on weekends like these.//

"A friend of his father's." WHO HE GOT KILLED. GREAT JOB, HARRY. "I gather his mother was unable to attend and felt it would be unkind to not have anyone visit."

Which was totally why he was avoiding actually talking to Eggsy.

//You gather so, hm?// Yeah, Jono was getting the feeling that Eggsy might not be terribly aware of Harry's presence here. He tilted his head a bit, and then shrugged his shoulders and settled in for the conversation. //Here to make certain he doesn't feel all left out and neglected, then?//

Only... a little bit. Look, he had more important things to do with his life. Like think of mentor relationships in the media to bring up at a later date.

And save the world. That too.

"In a manner of speaking. I owe his father my life and if the least I can do is keep an eye on his son, I will consider it an easy trade."

//Fair enough.// Jono eyed the other man for another moment more, and then leaned forward curiously. //So, what was it you wanted to know, Mr...?//

"Harry Hart," he replied, offing a hand to shake. "A pleasure."

"How interesting that Eggsy has managed to find fellow Brits here."

//Interesting, but not unheard of, really. We're an island that attracts all sorts, from all places. I'd guess maybe... half? Of the island's population is actually American. If that.//

Considering the number who were from space, or realities that didn't even have an Earth, it seemed like a fair estimate, anyway.

"Yes, I had picked up on that." Which was concerning, but not anymore dangerous than his previous neighborhood, it seemed. He hoped, really. "You have been here for a while then?"

//Years and years,// Jono agreed. //Went to the school here myself, actually. Not a bad place all in all. Learned a good many valuable life lessons here.//

Like how not to die. And how to throw yourself headfirst into a good many situations where you were terribly likely to in spite of all of that.
