Groovy Tunes, Saturday

Jono could make himself available in his office today, but the truth of the matter was, he would really rather claw out his own eyes than spend a day sitting at his desk waiting for somebody to come along to grill him on what he was teaching their little darlings. Besides, he had a business to run, here. There was a new Janet Jackson album out ( Read more... )

Of course Harry was continuing his completely reasonable round of the island while avoiding Eggsy completely. He was just there to make sure Lee's son was doing alright.

And was apparently employed doing something that was legal. Consider Harry proud.

"Good morning."

See? Jono was nothing if not the type to at least try to offer something that resembled legal employment!

//Morning,// he greeted, glancing up and nodding from behind his computer screen.

Bloody supplier, anyway.

//Can I help you, mate?//

He really didn't look like Groovy Tunes' usual customer base, no.

Well, thank you for that Jono! It certainly helped.

"I believe you can," Harry replied kindly. "I am here to check in on an employee of yours."

Jono considered that one for a moment, and then, coming to the conclusion that even an accent didn't necessarily narrow that one down one, just nodded and spread his hands, gesturing for Harry to pull up one of the seats nearby if he felt so inclined.

They were there for people who wanted to sit and play guitar, but hey, they were multi-purpose chairs that way.

//And which one might that be?//

After the ridiculously overblown cleanliness of the school, Eric retreated (not that he'd call it that) to the town.

Music store? Yes please.

He stalked in like he owned the place.

Well, at least he looked a little more like he belonged here than the last bloke did. Jono glanced up with a raised eyebrow, but kept a fairly pleasant tone about him as he nodded a greeting.

//H'llo, mate. Can I help you with anything?//

"What d'ya got in the earsplittingly loud genre?" Eric asked.

//Anything can be earsplittingly loud if you turn the speakers on high enough,// Jono pointed out, amused. //I'm guessing you're also hoping for something fast and angry to go with that, hm?//

Jono was already pulling himself to his feet and making his way toward the selection of death metal.

Didi looked a little strained around the eyes as she came in, though her face bore a smile. It was a gritted-teeth kind of smile.

The large red-headed man trailing her might explain the inspiration for both.

"Jono," she said as she came in. "Hi. This is my father, Time. We're doing the grand tour."

Time inclined his head in a stiff nod of greeting, clearly waiting for Jono to say something.

Jono took a moment's pause, blinking between Didi and Time before... nodding his own greeting. He figured if anyone had the patience to let him sort that one out for a moment, it was probably this guy.

Right? He hoped?

Lord, he hadn't seen a look like that on Didi's face in a long while. Hell, he couldn't remember the last time, really. Even coffee with Morpheus hadn't had her look half so stressed.

//It's a pleasure to meet you, sir,// he said, pulling himself to his feet. //I hope your visit to the island has been good so far? Can I get either of you anything? I've got coffee and tea just upstairs.//

Or alcohol. Did you need alcohol, Didi?

"I could drink tea," Time said, after a long, long pause in which he seemed to be considering whether Jono's tea would be acceptable. "Loose tea if you have it, not a bag."

"And," he added, "it's a pleasure to meet you as well." He did not sound entirely convinced of this.

"Two teas," Didi interjected gratefully, and she was going to throw in a telepathic request for whiskey in hers in hopes Jono would pick up on it. "And thank you. Dad, Jono's the one I mentioned earlier -- we've known each other a long time."

Parker was dragging Sophie into the music shop by the arm, beaming. "Look, one of my friends here. Jono, this is Sophie. Sophie, this is Jono."

'Friend' might be an exaggeration, or might not - they'd hung out a few times. But Parker wanted Sophie to see part of the island that she'd think was positive.

Sophie, meanwhile, was looking amused but affectionate.

//Charmed,// Jono replied, giving a little nod and an amused sort of smile (around his eyes, of course), right back. //And a pleasure to see you again as well, Parker. I hope the weekend is going well for both of you thus far?//

Sohpie's eyes widened at the telepathy-- and then her smile blossomed, genuine and warm as she held out her hand. "Parker didn't mention that you were a fellow ex-patriate," she said, looking charmed. Or that he was a telepath, because why would she? "Sophie Deveraux. Parker and I are old friends."

"Sophie and Nate showed up. Nate was trying to surprise us," Parker shared, smiling at them both. "Jono is very easy to talk to."

And Jono... was going to only barely manage to keep his own relief at Sophie's reaction from being too obvious. But it was there, definitely, if you knew to look for it. He gave her a little nod as he reached to shake her hand.

//Well, I try, anyway. I hope the island is treating you well? Fandom can be a touch overwhelming for the uninitiated.//
