When Anders had come back to the dorms from the preserve the evening before, he'd found Rapunzel's side of the room emptier than normal, with a note on his desk telling him she'd gone home and not to worry.

There was a short girl with a beard in the shop and Anders had just three guesses on who she might be.

And the first two did not count.

"Hey," Kathy said, coming into the store with a covered plate of Nutella cookies and a thermos of milk. She was pretty sure this was Anders' first genderswap weekend and she figured a good friend would at least check in and make sure he was handling it okay.

If he was, great! They'd have cookies to celebrate. If they didn't, well, Nutella made everything better.

"I brought treats." She held the plate up for his inspection and took that moment to look around avidly. "You know, I think this is my first visit to your store."

Anders had to think about it. "Hi, thank you, and I think you're right," he said. "Is it more or less what you expected? Or does it need more eye of newt?"

"I didn't bring Lachlan either, so I don't even have a familiar," Anders said, with mock woe. "You caught me out, Kathy. I've been pretending at this whole magic business. Can I still have a cookie?"
