Fandom High 20 Year Reunion Mixer, Community Center, Saturday Evening

May 16, 2015 21:06

Much like the last time this event had taken place, it would appear to anyone who came to the community center tonight that whoever had been responsible for decorating for the reunion mixer actually had some taste. The decorations were simple - blue linen on the tables with gold flowers as centerpieces, and a notable lack of any tacky accoutrements ( Read more... )

By now Clarke was super used to being tossed around into the past at any given moment. At least this time when she ended up in Fandom she wasn't in a middle of a crisis on her Earth.

She grabbed a drink and settled into a dark corner, deciding to enjoy the peace and people watch while she was back here.

Mmm booze that hadn't been made in an old sink.

"I know you." After talking to Derek, he'd wandered over to someone else familiar just to see if he'd be recognized or not. "Clarke, right?"

Sometimes he was really grateful for his memory and his attention to detail.

"That's right," she said, happy to see she hadn't been forgotten. "I know you too."

She tilted her head to the side, thinking about it for a moment. "This is embarrassing."

"You sure you know me?" Hard to stop the urge to tease. It was a thing. "Last guy I talked to said he was great with faces and didn't know my name. Hurtful to say the least."

Nah.

"Well I'm not claiming to be great with faces," she said. "But you do look familiar. Gonna give me a hint?"

"But, that would take the fun out of it," Jazz said, tilting his head. "All right, I'll give you what the last guy figured out. Starts with a J."

Well that made it easier. Clarke only kept a small group of acquaintances in Fandom. "Jasper."

"Congratulations," he said, clapping a few times before nodding. "Jasper though I haven't gone by that in awhile. At least someone remembers me. I was afraid this would be a wasted trip or whatever this weird thing of me being transported here is."

"What do you go by now?" Clarke asked.

"Robert." He kept his expression serious and sober for a second before he snickered and shook his head. "Jazz. Just a shortened version of my name. Easier for people to say."

And he did need that in his line of work. Plus, he liked the way it sounded.

"Jasper wasn't that hard to say," Clarke said. "Then again, you aren't the only Jasper I know."

"But I like Jazz."

"Not the only Jasper?" He wasn't sure if she'd told him that way back when or not. "But, I'm the better Jasper, right?"

"You've certainly caused me less trouble than the other one I know," she teased. "Though you're way better at the mysterious thing than he is."

Jazz shrugged and leaned one shoulder against the wall, glancing around. He'd caused plenty of trouble on his own so he supposed not causing trouble for her was a good thing. Some good karma.

"Still think I'm mysterious, huh?" he wondered aloud. "But, I told you all about me when we were younger."

No, he really hadn't.

Clarke shrugged. "I don't know, I always thought there was more to you than you were saying."

Then again, the same could be said about her as time went on. She certainly didn't share the Mount Weather story with a lot of people in Fandom.

"That just means you can make up stories about who I am and what I do," he pointed out easily. "Like maybe you'd think I was some great political figure."

Gross.

"Or a social worker." Not even close. "I did that with you. Wondered what your deal was more often than not. What else could I do with someone who wore my clothes that one time?"
