The Perk, Thursday afternoon

Apr 09, 2015 15:28

It was lucky Eliot wasn't the sort to drink heavily when he had stuff on his mind, or he'd be on the tail end of a three day bender. Instead he'd managed to teach class without letting Parker know he'd figured out "plan E", then found a few good bar fights on the mainland, replanted half his garden, finished clearing his house out of the last ( Read more... )

The only death Hardison had better be facing in any of those plans, Eliot, was of the little variety or so help him...!

Not that Karla knew anything about plots or plans or potential deaths (of any variety) of hackers. All she knew was that class was over, the island wasn't in immediate peril, and she wanted a coffee. And since those were two things worth celebrating with the third, there she was at the Perk, content to spend a few hours before her portal was scheduled to arrive.

"Kiss kiss," she called, spotting Eliot after receiving her coffee, a monstrous confection of whipped cream, caramel, and espresso. "Eliot, right? Mind if I join you?"

Oh please. Who was he, Nate?

Admittedly, there was one where Eliot ended up with a scar.

Eliot sat up in his seat, flipping the notepad closed and flashing Karla a smile. "That's right," he said, and nodded to the other chair. "Nah, go ahead -- Karla."

Pardon the barest pause there. When they'd been introduced he hadn't quite been operating at full capacity.

"Did you get that, uh . . . jewel of yours back?"

"I did," Karla said, taking a seat across from him. She tugged on a thin chain around her neck and pulled up a thumb-sized dark gray stone, mounted on a silver back. Pretty, if not terribly valuable-looking, but then, the worth of Jewels had never been in their appearance. "It was in a box in the clinic the day after that gutter-son of a whoring bitch was arrested. Still don't know who stole it, but at this point, it might be better that way."

Because even knowing there was dark magics and compulsion being used on people, the kneejerk 'You dared' was still there. "Your friends' harddrive show up, too?"

Eliot leaned forward to get a good look -- at the jewel dammit, he wasn't checking out her chest much when he was planning romantic gestures to two other people -- then sat back and nodded. "Yeah. We actually did find out who grabbed that. Kid was so terrified we didn't do much more than point out what a phenomenally stupid idea it'd been."

"Coffeeeeeeee," Kenzi demanded of the barista, doing her best zombie impression. "...with whipped creeeeam."

The barista rolled his eyes and made Kenzi's standard order of extra-strong mocha with whipped cream and chocolate, and Kenzi glanced around. Then headed over to flop down in front of Eliot when she had her drink.

"Mmmmmm."

Eliot probably should have known better than to do his planning in public. He flipped his notepad closed again and nodded at Kenzi. "Hey, kid."

"'Sup boss?" Kenzi grinnned, and slurped down a healthy chug of her mocha. "Mostly, what's up with the llama?"

That had been... new.

Eliot sighed. "Hell if I know. Maybe it came out of the freezer."
