Homecoming Dance | Town Hall | Friday Evening | Post I

Oct 19, 2012 23:44

Glitter seemed to be a theme of the evening. There was glitter on the posters covering the walls, glitter on the plants printed on table cloths. Glitter on the fake full moon hanging in place of a mirror ball.

And of course, glitter on the banner hanging above the entrance.

Welcome to Homecoming 2012

Become a (wo)man.

Become a wolf.

Billy held onto Topher's hand and brought him out to the dance floor, hoping that his hand wasn't getting sweaty from nerves. "This'll be easy. All you have to do is follow my lead."

If Billy's hand was sweaty, Topher was just going to blame it on his own nerves, so he was in the clear.

"And not step on your foot," he reminded him, because... that seemed important. "Okay."

He was totally watching their feet now. It meant he didn't get a pretty view of Billy, but it was probably safer that way.

"Don't worry about my feet. Just come here," Billy said. He reached for Topher's other hand, and tried to put them on his waist. "If you step on my feet, it'll be okay. I might step on yours too. All that matters is being close."

Oh. Okay. Well.

Maybe it was the fact that this dance was kind of predictable, but he wasn't actually on edge or twitching away from the closeness right now. On the contrary, it was nice, and Billy's hair smelled nice and his jacket was soft and it was hard to want to twitch away from any of that.

"It doesn't suck," he said, eloquently.

"Good. It doesn't suck from my end either," Billy said. He put his hands on Topher's shoulders and tried to guide him into a swaying kind of motion with the music. "In fact, this is pretty nice."

"And easy," Topher added. "There's surprisingly little grinding involved."

This was a very, very good thing.

He left it at that for a moment, because it did actually require some concentration to keep up with all the swaying, then said, "You know we've been dating for like ten months?"

"I did know that, yeah," Billy said happily. "I can't believe we haven't done a dance in that time. But we've done a lot of other good stuff."

"Doom bots, being girls twice, ice cream, two trips and a week in a tent, like five hundred drinking nights..." Topher rattled off, smiling. "Did I miss anything?"

"Penguins!" Billy laughed. "I mean, I think you covered pretty much everything. It's been a weird few months, but I don't think it's so hard when you have someone else to go through things with."

"Yeah," Topher echoed, sounding a little surprised by that. "That's right. Especially since you're, like... good at handling things. Strictly speaking."

"You're getting better at handling things," Billy insisted. "You didn't freak out as much the second time you turned into a girl." As if apologizing for bringing that up, Billy moved just a little bit closer to Topher, slightly invading his personal space.

"Well, that's 'cause Ace helped," Topher mumbled, but he was grinning a little, especially now that Billy was edging closer. He figured that was a cue, and shifted a little closer himself, too. "And also you were there. So. That might've been a factor."

"Boyfriends help each other. Like you helped me deal with all the Tommy stuff. I don't know if I ever really truly thanked you for that," Billy said. "I think I'd be a bigger mess if I hadn't had someone to talk to about it all."

"Oh, good," Topher said, sounding relieved. "I couldn't tell if I was being helpful. Um. Yay."

"You're always helpful," Billy said. He leaned in and gave Topher a gentle kiss. "I hope I can help you too."

Topher went ahead and let that kiss last a liiittle bit longer than normal, thanks. He figured they were dancing and wearing suits, so the kisses got to be longer.

Whatever. He could do logic however he wanted. Shut up.

"If I ever have a twin brother show up out of nowhere, I'm definitely texting you first," he promised when he drew back. "Or like. Any other problem. Ever."
