It was Derek's first day at work, so one might have expected some cheer. Or, you know, any emotion at all. Just a little bit. C'mon, Derek. 'Lurking' isn't an emotion.
So, people would be greeted today by his impression of the world's surliest looking statue.
At least he wasn't working the door?

Jack had met Ronan. He wondered if he should have warned Derek.

"I dunno," Ronan said, looking over at Derek speculatively. "He looks like he could take it a little rough."

He switched back to English, very deliberately. "I think it's the leather."

"I should dig out some of my old leather," Ronan mused. "Powers only know if it'd even still fit right."
