As if the presence of the School Board wasn't enough of an annoyance, Tino was clearly taking his recent "promotion" a bit too seriously, what with the way he was lording his new (temporary) manager status over Jake.

Jake had decided to ignore him in favour of testing out a shipment of espresso-flavoured vodka that had arrived earlier that day

There was nothing like being stuck in your old Galactic Federation Police uniform to drive a girl to drinking.

There wasn't really a lot to drive Samus to drinking in the first place, true, but this just provided a particularly good excuse.

"Whiskey on the rocks," she decided, since she figured finding any of her favorite space beers tonight would be pretty slim.

Yeah, all the really out-there stuff had been tucked away in one of the storage rooms for the night.

"Whisky I can do," Jake said, sliding the drink over. And... hovering a couple inches up off the ground as he did so. Still didn't really have the hang of the whole wing-thing.

Samus lifted an eyebrow as he lifted himself, and then shook her head. "I've had a lot of tough missions," she murmured into her glass, interrupting herself with a drink, "but a week of trying to keep this place 'normal' by this backwater planet's standards?"

She shook her head again and took another drink.
