For vocal warm-ups, last minute line-runs, squeezing into costumes... Keep the panicking to a minimum, please.

Ordinarily Gabrielle would have at least a little case of nerves before any kind of performance, mostly because she was worried about getting it right.

Tonight, though, eh -- after the last few weeks she'd had, getting nervous about a play seemed kind of trivial. She was humming some of her lines to herself as she got into costume, still in that oddly tuneless way that somehow managed to disappear whenever she was actually doing a song. (If it hadn't been real life, you'd swear she was being dubbed.)

Natalie was not panicking. She was actually pretty calm. Focused. It was a question of pride to do this thing right, after all, since she'd stuck it out with this production.

She perched the sparkly red top hat on her head and took one last look through the script.

Billy had reached a Zen-like state sometime this morning, so he was much calmer than he'd been this week. Whatever was going to happen would happen, and they'd all just have to deal with it. That seemed like the best attitude he could have for a show like this.

Some of you know exactly what you're in for. Some of you... do not.

It's not a cute kid in a chicken suit, that's for sure.

Billy had told Topher to come, so Topher was there. Looking very uncertain, very wary, and more than a little bit confused.

Please let someone he knew sit near him, please let someone he knew sit near him...

"You're here!"

Having someone say that in your ear from behind him was probably not what Topher had in mind.

Startled Topher shrieked and leapt up. It was actually pretty impressive. You wouldn't think he could jump that high.

Then he turned, saw who it was, and relaxed a little. "Oh. It's you."

And not some evil underwear monster or something.

Natalie had finally hit something of a comfortable stride with Ecuadoria in the previous day's dress rehearsal. There were a few bits where she faltered and her own mild, stiff ways shone through, but she got over those admirably. Ecuadoria was bubbly, but in a sharp, sometimes even slightly dark way. She was naive, sure, but not harmless. Even if she did end up dead at the end.

And Natalie looked really good in the corset, garter belt and fishnets over regular tights for an illusion of more skin that was actually visible during the floor show, even if she preferred glitzy vest and jacket of the early parts of the play more.

Natalie might not have been entirely comfortable strutting her stuff on stage, but she could fake it well enough. And if nothing else, no one was likely to claim she couldn't sing, after tonight.

Kenzi hit her drumsticks over her head for a four-count, and then LAAAA there was drumming. And lo, it was awesome. And way too much fun.

Jono, clad in his brand new black leather, was quite happy to be not quite in the spotlight for this production. He was armed with his cherry-red Stratocaster, and the musical performance tonight had a definite sort of bite to it, between Kenzi's drumming and his guitar.

If anyone asked him about it after the show, he'd deny that he enjoyed it half as much as he did.

Natalie's ears were ringing as she emerged from the theater, needing the cool outside air. Though her clothes were her own sensible ones that actually covered her up, her makeup was still that of Ecuadoria, and it made for a weird contrast.

But she felt pretty weird too. She'd danced around on stage practically in her undergarments. She thought it was allowed to feel weird and wired.

[SP warning as I'm not at home!]

"I thought you didn't do stuff like that."

Yes, hello, Topher.

"Hello, Topher."

Well, someone had to say it. She shrugged a shoulder.

"Sometimes these things happen."
