The Boards, Thursday Evening (Petey Sci-Fi Rehearsal)

Mar 15, 2012 06:49

"Evening, all," Jono greeted as all and sundry gathered for the rehearsal. "We're actually starting to get rather near to opening night, so it's time we start doing runs of the acts. Today, we're going to try to get through the first act of the show, no stopping. If you forget a line, try to power through as best you can. We won't be giving you ( Read more... )

With the requisite lemon water. And probably muffins.

Natalie took some lemon water, looking thoughtful.

And not at all wary at the thought of the costumes being so close to finally making an appearance. Of course not.

Hanna sipped lemon water as she went over the parts of the show she was involved in. This included going over the choreography in her head as she waited.

Vincent was here, so there were definitely muffins.

What? Half the fun of this show, he'd decided, was feeding the cast. That was just how Vincent worked.

Michael Rennie was ill the day the earth stood still
But he told us where we stand
And Flash Gordon was there in silver underwear
Claude Raines was the invisible man...

Same song as always, and Quinn knew the words, and her voice was still good but not incandescently great. But this time, thankfully, she'd figured out a way to do it in a smug British lilt that shouldn't remind anyone of meta Mary Poppins.

That that, Jono.

Jono wasn't cradling a mug of coffee today. Mostly because he hadn't been able to find his coffee mug for most of the evening. It had turned up in the freezer shortly before rehearsal.

... A frozen mug wasn't so good for a guy who wanted hot coffee, and so he'd dug up his guitar (which he'd found earlier that day among the costume racks, nestled cozily inside Troy's chicken suit), and headed down for rehearsal. He was clutching to that like a lifeline instead.

His inability to find his amplifiers was something he'd worry about later. Today he was just playing the karaoke soundtrack that he'd picked up in town earlier, when he thought his Stratocaster was gone forever.

Look! A super-sized hot chocolate mocha with peppermint and cinnamon!

"Were you the guy with the lampshade?" 'Cause if not, she was drinking this herself.

"Unfortunately," Jonothon confirmed, casting a kind of sideways glance Kenzi's way. "And you would be the psychotic diva?"

That was the kindest phrase Jono had been able to come up with for Veronica, thus far.

Oh yes, there were so many things to do, and luckily Billy was in a super-focused headspace as he pored over his lists to see what still needed to be done. Anyone needing his attention might need to wave a hand in his face or something to pull him away from his thoughts.

Waving, waving, waving.... "What do you think of this roast?"

Well, it was certainly red enough.

"It's...red?" Billy said, oh so helpfully after a moment, once he'd managed to look up. "I mean, it looks good."
