The Perk- early Thursday afternoon

Today required coffee, and a lot of it. How Audrey managed surviving on the stuff she had at home was beyond her, but today there was going to be a trip to the coffee place in town. So she got there, placed her order, the barista went in back to get something before she could make Audrey's drink

Hercules himself was out for coffee before he would head to his finger-licking-good school office. He lined up behind Audrey, humming an old Greek drinking tune.

"...where is the server?" he asked, finally paying attention to what was going on.

"I'm beginning to think their stockroom might be huge," she replied, still looking. "Possibly endless."

"That would be magnificent," Hercules said, thinking about such a prospect. "Halls upon halls of the tastiest of roasted beans. And all those froo-froo syrups for those who adulterate their coffee. It would be like a brewhouse honoring Olympus itself!"

He chuckled at that idea, and brushed a bit of lint off the sleeve of his black turtleneck.

Of all the reactions Audrey could have imagined, that was not it. So she blinked for a moment, then said, "Yes. Just like that."

"I think on break," Audrey said, half tempted to go back there to make sure the barista hadn't been murdered horribly or something in a back room by some newly evil ex-graduate who'd stuck around after homecoming. "Or on lunch. Or home."

"I'll give her another minute and then track her down. And make her caffeinate us," she decided.

"Lost the coffee gal?" Howard asked, peering around for where the barista went off to.

And yes, he said gal. Deal with it.

Look at Audrey dealing with it!

"Considering she probably knows exactly where she is, I don't think we can call her lost," Audrey decided.

"You're new in town, aren't you?"

"Does it show?" she asked with a little wry smile.
