Jake had gone for the classic look for Homecoming. A simple dark grey suit, white shirt and slim black tie. He'd even attempted not to shave this week to get a bit of a roguish look, but that had resulted in nothing visible.

He arrived alone for now since Caroline had gone organising obsessed and thwarted his plans to try and make this whole thing a proper date. Now give him a moment to boggle at the theme and the amount of glitter. He wondered how much people were going to end up eating glitter tonight.

Caroline had been helping set up and...never managed to get back to the dorms. Luckily her hair and makeup were easy and she was prepared enough that her dress bag had come down with her to the hall. So when she spotted Jake, she hurried over, pausing to adjust the positioning of a moose on her way. "Just look at my date - prompt and totally hot!"

There had been nothing to delay him which was kind of sad if you asked him, but now he had a girl there and things were looking up.

He held out his hand to her, tilting his head to take in the dress. "You're looking shiny," he remarked, but then there were legs and curves and a lack of... Right. Focus. "And hot. Very, very hot."

"You said to wear the sexy one," she reminded him, grabbing hold of his arm since he was looking at her sort of funny and dragging him more inside so he could really see all the decorating that had been done. "So...I need reactions here. What do you think of it?"

"They're all sexy," he pointed out. Mainly because she was wearing them and he was easy like that.

He glanced around as she dragged him along, wondering who kept coming up with the weird themes. "It's cool. Kind of overkill on the glitter, but the food smells awesome."

Caroline didn't pretend to understand how it was cool, but at least he wasn't horrified. "Oh please, like you're picky about food. The glitter...okay so for once that wasn't entirely me? So I take no credit there. I just want it to be nice." And she would obsess about it until she decided enough people thought it was nice that she could relax.

"It's nice," Jake assured her, trying to draw her closer to him because that was the main thing about a dance after all. "You can relax, you did a good job and people are going to have fun."

"They'd better," she replied, chewing her lip as she took in the explosion of glitter and weird animals. God, she was so going to be the one spiking the ginger ale for personal consumption.

Jake reached out, lightly touching her cheek to draw her attention back to him. "I know I will."

He wasn't sure how much of her attention he had right now, but he caught her hand in his to try and keep her there. "So you want to get a picture? Or move straight on to dancing? Or eat or hang out or something..."

Oh, he had a large percentage. Enough for her to move in front of him and run her free hand over his lapel, adjusting the front of his jacket. "What do you want to do?"

"You don't think that's valid?" Caroline raised an eyebrow at him and slid her hand up to press against his forehead. "Are you feeling ill?"

He laughed and caught her hand, drawing it down so he could press a kiss to her fingers. "Is it Student Council approved?"
