The blasted heath might be trying to devour the entire island, but it still hailed from one focal point. The campgrounds, now grey and full of ashes, held the source of the taint. A rock, so strangely hued, so alien-looking. The fissure it was in produced bubbles now under the last rays of the sun, sending the water trembling ( Read more... )

Healing people was what Raven did best, but that wasn't working. She'd never tried to heal land before, but nothing was going to stop her from trying her best to put an end to this and save her friends from the infection transforming them.

"We can do this," Karla said quietly, coming up to stand next to her. She didn't look at Raven, keeping her eyes steady on the rock. "You're a Healer, I'm a Queen, and we make for an excellent team. We're going to beat this."

Raven turned her eyes to Karla and reached for her hand. "We are," she said, nodding. "And we will. No mere rock can be stronger than the passion and will of Fandom."

The safety of all her friends was on her mind, but she also remembered how shattered Jono had been after Didi had died, and she didn't want to see Karla bearing that same sorrow if they lost Warren.

Where you will be shoving that blight back into the stone where it belonged.

Raven knelt in the grey ashes, placing her palms flat on the ground. She didn't need to touch to heal, but it helped.

She dropped her shields and braced herself to begin drawing the blight from the land into her own body. Expelling it into the netherverse was what she was accustomed to; pushing it back into the rock was going to take help.

Morrigan was chanting something softly under her breath, a soft blue glow coming from her hands as she spoke.

In one smooth move, she unhooked her staff from her back, spun it twice, and rammed the butt into the ground, causing four glyphs to spring up at the four cardinal directions around their little team. Paralysis, warding, repulsion, and neutralization glowed brightly in the air for a moment before settling into the ground. "They will not hold should too many 'spawn attempt to overwhelm them repeatedly," she warned, returning her weapon to her back-holster. "We must be quick about this."

Patrol the blasted heath, looking for any beasts trying to get near the squishier people. There’s plenty of them... and they’re hungry.

Alistair had a sword that hummed with lightning, and a keen sense of just where those beasts might be dwelling at any one time. He was making good use of both, cutting down creatures stumbling too close to the campgrounds with efficiency.

He occasionally checked back, just to see how the mages were doing.

Monsters, mutated locals, what-have-you... Reno was kind of in his element as his patrol turned into a bit more of a prowl. He was going to enjoy the hell out of himself, beating the crap out of the beasts that had mutated from hell-if-he-knew. It wasn't often that he got to do this sort of thing around here without picking fights with other people.

Of course, considering the amount of people who had been losing their minds this week, he would have been totally okay to see any of them try to pick fights with him. Fact that he was playing the role of convenient distraction aside, of course.

It said a great many things about Cara that as she maimed and killed with bow and agiel things which had once been deer and alot that she quite honestly felt the best she had all summer, none of them good.

You... succeeded at something. But what?

The fissure hasn't vanished, and the land immediately around it still looks terribly grey. It doesn't feel wrong, though-- like a scar.

The monsters that had been attacking don't seem to be turning back yet - but they're not attacking anymore. That's something, right?

Karla, bleeding from numerous cuts, sagged back against a tree that still felt almost...dusty?...and surveyed the area. To most senses, it looked exactly the same as it did before. But beneath her feet, she could feel the land rippling as new life started leeching back into the soil, rejuvenating it from far below. The whole thing felt like an wound infected would freshly lanced; not yet healed, but clean now and able to do so.

She thought that meant they'd won?

Raven had been deep in a healing trance when Warren had attacked Karla, but as she came out of it, Karla's pain jolted her. She crawled over to Karla's side, not even asking before she laid her hands on her arm and started to heal her injuries. She was her Healer; she didn't have to ask, right?

And Karla wasn't even gonna argue--oh, wait, yes she was.

"No," she croaked, trying to draw her arm away. "You need to rest. They'll Heal."

In a minute. Maybe two. Whenever Karla got around to sealing them with Craft.

The answer to your question is: yes, you may.

The answer to your other question is: no, I don't. I'm Dutch, I sound like Loekie.
