Groovy Tunes, Tuesday

Aug 31, 2010 09:15

Jonothon had done it again. He'd gotten up and out of bed, and he'd made his way into town (with his guitar, yes), and to the Groovy Tunes, where, with the exception of about an hour during the day that he was going to take off for class instead of the lunch break that he never needed, he would be around ( Read more... )

Christian was not the person at school most plugged into the gossip mill, but even he knew Jono was having a terrible week, and that his girlfriend had left. He wasn't sure if showing up to try for another band practice was even worth it.

"Hello?" he called nervously as he walked into the shop. "I -- was thinking we haven't practiced since the first time. I know it's been a horrble month, but -- would you still be interested?"

Jono glanced up from his guitar at that, making a point to finish at least the last line of the song that be was playing before forming a reply.

My, oh my, what a wonderful day.

//Christian, mate, I'll never turn down th'opportunity to play,// he replied. Which was... in some sense, accurate. Music was every bit an escape for him, and if somebody wanted to swing by to help him along, he wasn't going to send them away, exactly. //Take a seat? Or, if you prefer to stand...//

"I sing better when I stand," Christian answered. "But -- either is fine. I've never been overly particular."

But stand he would, and he leaned against the counter a bit. "Do you want to keep going with what you were playing, then?"

//No,// Jono said, quickly, looking up at Christian wide-eyed before wincing, looking back down at his guitar, and adding a little more softly, //no. No, that was just... I was thinking, that's all. We don't need to work with that one, really. If there's something that you'd prefer...//

And, of course, once her shift at the clothing store was finished (okay, it might have been a few...or ten...minutes early), Ariel bounced on over to the music shop to see Jono. Her general good cheer did well to cover up her nervousness about making sure she was well gone before any practices might be about to begin.

"Hello, Jono!" she called out in a sing-song voice. "Happy Tuesday!"

//Is it?// Jono was going to table the occasional attempt at a happy Disney tune for now, looking up at Ariel and trying on a smile in greeting. //Cor, gel, I don't know if I'll ever get used to you just outright saying hello.//

That wasn't a complaint, really. Merely an observation. Possibly for the conversational value.

To that, Ariel could only giggle, a sound that was probably going to be heard even more than her outright saying hello. "Of course it is, silly! I managed to make it in today. And I'm sure you'll get used it before you even notice." Again, she felt a giggle leak out. "You'll certainly be hearing it enough."

So much giggling. Even if Jono did manage to get used to hearing her voice, he'd been kind of fond of that silent laugh that she'd had. Not that this was any less adorable, of course, but he related to that last laugh, better. He had to think for anybody to hear his, and then it was hardly natural, was it?

//Well, we might have to get you to make a habit of this, then,// he decided. //Any Tuesday with an Ariel about is bound to be a good one, after all.//

"Boss-man~"

Fear the dreaded mini-speech, for Delirium had shyly made her way in and now was shyly peeking to the other side of the counter, expecting to see Jono there.

And that was it. What else could she say anyway?

Jonothon's fingers ground against the strings of his guitar at that, causing a bit of a squawk from the amplifier before he winced, reached over, and flicked it off.

//... Delirium.//

That was sort of like hello. A kind of pained, quiet sort of hello.

That would be a good time to give him an equally pained, quiet stare. The obvious question went unsaid, since she knew the answer already. Del had a pretty good idea of how things would play out for a while, actually, and she hated every minute of it.

"That sounded, um, good." It was her own musical appreciation and she was sticking to it.

//Yes, nothing quite beats accidental music,// Jonothon replied, eyeing his guitar and then shrugging his way out from the strap and resting it on the stand. //I'm afraid I don't play that particular number very often.//

For good reason. Jono didn't particularly enjoy migraines.

//What brings you in today, Delirium?//

As if he couldn't guess.

Azula entered the Groovy Tunes, like before she took a moment to take in the music Jono was currently listening to. before tracking down Jono himself. "Hello, Jono."

Jonothon glanced up at Azula, offering her a small nod in greeting. A visit from his dead girlfriend's insane sister hadn't done anything good for his mood, and so he was feeling... fairly quiet, right about now.

//Hello, Azula.//

It was still something Azula have to get used to, Jono's voice in her head but there was something about his 'tone' that suggested something of his mood.

"You seem off." When in doubt, be blunt.

Well, at least she was straightforward about it. Jono actually appreciated that. Everybody else seemed to want to dance around it.

//Bad week,// he replied, tiredly. //Very bad week.//

There was a pause, and then he looked up at her perhaps slightly apologetically.

//Which seems to be a bit of a trend, doesn't it, when you come to visit? I'm sorry, luv...//

Because he totally had control over the things that happened in the world around him. Sure, Jono. You keep telling yourself that.
