Jaina had made the mistake of listening to radio this morning, and so she wasn't in the best of moods when she got in to work today. She was trying not to take it out on Tino, but as he was staying as far away from her as he could, she didn't really have the chance. Mostly she was just decidedly not thinking about it, and moreso not talking about

And a lovely smile it was! Aquaman easily smiled back. "Now, that's not a bad idea at all! It is the weekend, after all. What harm could a little splurge do?"

First guy she'd ever met who would consider a second root beer a splurge. "Exactly," she said, getting him another one. "This is on the house." Because he made her feel better, yes.

"Oh, no, no, you must let me pay!" said Aquaman. "I appreciate the offer, but you'll spoil me."

"Save your money for the next time you need a root beer on a Saturday night," Jaina told him.

"If you insist," said Aquaman, grinning. "But you do realize that the money is just going straight into your tip jar if it's not going into the til tonight, right?"

"Oh, don't tell me that," she said, half-laughing. "On one hand I was raised to be honorable, on the other, I live on a bartender's salary."

"I promise," said Aquaman, hand over his heart, "that I'll only do it when you're not looking."

Laughing again, she sighed, "Okay, I promise I'll have turned off the eyes in the back of my head then. And no, I don't really have eyes in the back of my head. Have to clarify here."

There was a slight pause.

"I was just about to ask if that made brushing your hair awkward," Aquaman admitted.

She even turned around and moved her hair so he could see the lack of eyes. "Though I imagine that would be awkward."

"Although," Aquaman mused, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "stingrays have their eyes on the opposite sides of their faces, and they seem to manage quite well!"

Seriously. How could she think about serious stuff when she was discussing this. "Do stingrays have hair?"

"Well, no," said Aquaman. "But they do sort of have eyes in the back of their head."

"I think I've reached the part of the evening where I start wondering if they bump into things going forward a lot," she admitted.
