Streets of Fandom - Saturday

Mar 27, 2010 14:34

There was a bull-size wolf moving through town. The fact that some people might end up thinking he was a monster had occurred to Jacob, but his sense of self preservation was very much skewed. Besides, how many monsters did you know that walked around with a cut off pair of jeans attached to his hind leg by a gas mask. Luckily there was no droid ( Read more... )

The report about the wolves kidnapping the principal meant there was a very cranky two-legged wolf stalking the streets of Fandom, armed with her longbow and sporting one of the strange masks.

By her side, unsurprisingly, was Blind Seer. He did not have a mask, just determination not to repeat the embarrassment of the scent-magic incident in the sewers beneath Thendulla Lypella. His nose would not be fooled again.

Blood, Blind Seer commented, sniffing the air. Wolf's blood.

Show yourself! Firekeeper demanded, wondering if the blood belonged to their prey.

Jake had forced himself to get up, his head was swimming from the blood loss, even as his body worked to try and heal him up. The scratches had been deep enough that he still was bleeding and the russet fur on his flank was matted with blood.

Just like his muzzle, there was green and red blood on it, but the wounds there at least were gone. He stopped moving, recognising the familiar scent and really there were only two wolves on the island who'd ever spoken to him like this.

It's just me, he answered.

Firekeeper's own nose was detecting nothing but the stale smell of the inside of the mask, which was definitely annoying.

Well, 'just me', you look as if you've had some trouble, which was perhaps an understatement as she took in Jacob's state.

You should see the other monster, he said with a wolfish grin that was borderline cocky. Okay, it was cocky. Nice mask.

Tahiri had had enough of biosuits after that last infiltration of Coruscant, so she was wearing one of her usual flight suits today, only with a rebreather -- a concession she wasn't the fondest of, but a necessary one, particularly after what had happened on Wednesday with Jak and Jono. The rebreather kept her Force senses from getting clouded up like they had that day, so she trusted herself enough to stay under control and range further away from the dorms.

Barefoot as usual, and lightsaber casting a freakish pale blue glow in the fog, she already had gunk from several dispatched creatures on her as she paced through the streets. She was very slightly more the Yuuzhan Vong warrior than the Jedi Knight at the moment; considering the creatures they were dealing with, it seemed the smarter choice, although she was keeping a careful watch over her own state of mind.

She had enough monster gunk on her that it took a moment for Jacob to figure out what exactly he was smelling. None of the monsters he'd seen so far came with a glowy stick however and so he held back, waiting to see what exactly was coming at him.

As he figured it, it was probably best not to meet up or make any sort of sound as he wasn't eager for any other misunderstandings.

There was something close by in the fog, and a little exertion of her Force senses gave her the familiar signature of someone she knew. The shape she could halfway make out, though, looked more like Blind Seer than anything else . . . but that wasn't his Force presence.

"It's Tahiri," she called out cautiously, still poised to move if she had to; no idea if whoever was out there was affected by the fog or not.

Now he remembered and he let out a soft bark. It wasn't exactly his name, but it would have to do as greeting for now, seeing the whole of being able to talk.

It wasn't that surprising that Rose was out wandering through the streets equipped with a gas mask and a sword.

Was it?

She frowned as she saw the large creature emerging through the fog, and the sword was drawn quickly. "God, it's always wolves or psi-hounds or something."

And here Jake was thinking it always were vampires, or people who stunk like them. Well sort of, there was some distinction, but it still made him wonder if he was hallucinating, except that he didn't think he'd hallucinate about Rose.

So he was going with a no and he came to a stop, lowering his head and eyeing the sword warily.

Rose eyed the wolf as he came closer and resheathed the sword. "You need like a tag or something," she pointed out. "Or like a glowy necklace."

Yeah, she was still on about that.

Not everyone had the advantage of stinking a mile away to announce their presence. Whatever.

How many werewolves his size did she usually run in to? It wasn't that hard to know it was him. He whuffed at her. Had she at least found out anything useful?

Normal people would assume that monsters and evil fog outside meant you should stay inside. Blossom knew, of course, that no one on this island was truly normal, and so far she'd had to rescue and try to escort home more than one NPCitzen.

So, yeah. Blossom was out and about, pounding the streets (stupid fog!) and doing her hero thing and keeping an eye out for any possible clues about the kidnapping.

She might want to spent a little less time looking for clues, and maybe a little more time paying attention to that low growling sound somewhere off to her side.

Whoah, growling? She had her yo-yo in hand as she spun to look for the source of the sound. Or try to. "Who's there?"

Hey, maybe it was just someone really really hungry?

This one was really hungry, yes! It didn't answer the question, but it did get closer so she'd probably see its face even in the fog.

It had a lot of teeth.
